Paint peeled
I was so excited for this item. I missed in the description that there were stickers. Around the gray part is the different symbols or they type (spiral, mountain, leadf, etc.)that are liitle stickers and then the skylanders logo is a sticker. When I received the item, these were half peeling off so I just removed them because I was going to wash it. They came off fine, but when I tried to remove the logo one, it peeled a bunch of paint off the white part of portal. I plan on painting over it since the white part doesn't touch the cake, but I am disappointed considering after the party, I was going to let my boys keep it as a toy when the pretend play with the figures.

Worked well for Skylanders cake
We ordered this kit for our son's 7th birthday - Skylanders theme. We put it on a half sheet cake. The "portal" is only about 4 inches in diameter but it worked well. We had writing on one half of the cake and the portal on the other side along with the 2 figures.I docked it a star for two reasons: 1) one of the figures arrived with a broken wing. I was able to fix it with my hot glue gun and no one noticed, but it was still disappointing to receive in that condition; 2) the sticker on top of the portal was peeling and I was unable to get it to lay flat. Sort of noticeable in photos.

Not Many Options
If you have a kid into Skylander, there are few cake options at big box stores like Safeway, Fred Meyers or Walmart. What we found was one store that had a cake that was airbrushed one color and had these items plopped on top. We decided to bake our own cake and design the top with molding chocolate and these items. It did the job but the items are cheap, plastic and not highly detailed. They would be dull alone on a cake, next time we would just use Skylander figures from the actual game on top of a cake instead of these items.

ordered this through amazon for $8 for 7 yr olds bday party. it was a hit!! was going to go to a specialty baker to copy the cake but found it at TARGET!!! since i already had the toppers i asked how much they would knock off just for the cake. they said $5. oh well. in the end i'm glad i got it from amazon because Target ran out of the toppers and had to back order.check Target or other bakeries to see if they have it before you order on amazon. i wouldn't pay more than $8 but i guess it depends on how desperate you are for them.

Good, but a bit small
My 6yr old son is into Skylanders Giants right now, so of course he wanted that as his theme for his birthday party. Here's the problem: it's very difficult to find party supplies with this theme! I ordered this cake kit and thought "GREAT!". It actually is a pretty cool topper, just very small. If you have a small cake, then it'll work just fine. But if you're looking into getting a full sheet cake...well this will look very tiny on it. As others have mentioned, there are stickers all over this so it will be difficult to wash. Other than that, my son saw it and still loves it and thinks it's cool.

Just What I Was Hoping For
I ordered this set about a week before my son's birthday party. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't arrive in time, but it shipped very quickly and I was very pleased with what I got. I bought red and blue food spray color from the store, and made a similar cake to the one in the picture. It was so easy and it turned out great! Best part, now my boys can use the figures to play with along with their other action figures. Really worth it.

It looked like a miniature version of the full sized portal
My son was thrilled with this set. It looked like a miniature version of the full sized portal. It was a little small for the half sheet cake we purchased it for. However, the bakery filled in the empty space with some Skylanders rings.

Finished the cake and WOW it is fabulous!
When this arrived I was disappointed. I thought it was going to be larger than it is but now that I have used it, I clearly was wrong. I have a FULL size sheet cake and it is perfect. It would be cluttered for a half sheet but could still work.
