Would these work on a horse blanket?

I think they would stick on anything but would need to be sewn on before washing as they come off in the wash.

Are both side of the tape black?

The back is adhesive paper, the adhesive paper is white, only the front is black.

What kind of material will this work on?

I patched a leather coat and cotton shirts and pants. But it will come off in the wash, so I had to sew on the patches for the clothes that will go through the washing machine but I don't know if iron-on patches are any better about that. These patches come in handy. I also bought the pack with multi-colors which I like a lot and have patched tee shirts.

Would this work on a pillow?

It would work on a pillow but it is temporary unless you also sew it on. It will come off in the washing machine as well unless sewn on. I have it on a coat and put new strips on when it starts to peel off. If you don't mind replacing it from time to time it can extend the life of your clothes if don't mind patches, which I don't. I figure if people can walk around with "artfully" ripped and stained jeans, I can save money by patching my clothes.
