Favorite Poems of Childhood (Dover Children's Thrift Classics)

There are poems by many good poets here: William Blake, Lewis Carroll, Joyce Kilmer, Edward Lear, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Alfred Tennyson, among many others. Considering this, I'd rate it a four or five. But, this book is really intended, it seems, for young ones. And given the age of these poems, and their language, and subjects, most children just won't "get it." These poems won't speak to them, sorry to say. May I recommend instead All the Small Poems by Valerie Worth, or anything by Shel Silverstein?

A good selection of poems to interest children in reading. Some are a bit precious and overly cute, some quite amusing. If nothing else, this goes to prove just how prolific a writer Anonymous was.

It’s ok. There are some religious poems in it, which I would have appreciated knowing before I purchased it.

For the price, good collection of poems. But the paper in the book seems really flimsy and low quality. Gave it to people who needed lightweight book to limit luggage weight. Otherwise, I would have chosen s book with more of a longer lasting durable quality.

Came quickly, very good shape,lots of poems and rhymes..

Bought this book for our toddler but it had very old fashioned poems in it and not many pictures at all, considering it's a kid's book. I immediately put it in our donation box :O(
