The foam roller is one of the most versatile pieces of fitness equipment. It can be used for flexibility, massage and balance training. Many fitness trainers use them as props for their Pilates, core training and sport conditioning classes. They are really effective for developing core stabilization, body balance and awareness and strength, also great for myofascial release which unties muscular knots. Foam rollers vary in widths and thickness. They are also available as half rounds, which are exclusively for balance training, half rounds will not work for self myofascial release. Most challenging is the round roller; less challenging is the half round roller with the flat side up and the least challenging is the half round with the half width flat side down. making it too easy to balance and thus eliminating some of the purpose ...
Reading the various reviews on this product, it's hard to tell whether it's sufficiently firm, or too soft. Firmness is certainly in the judgment of the user.My primary exercise with this product is standing on it to work on balance, coordination and core strength. I need and expected a very firm half roller, and found that it compresses too much under my 185 pounds, making it too easy to balance and thus eliminating some of the purpose of using the roller. I use a half roller in physical therapy that doesn't compress at all, and that was what I was hoping to buy.So if you have some heft and are looking for a truly firm half roller, this is not the best product. Serviceable, but not great. I'm guessing though that if you're a 100-pounder, this might work pretty well.

I really like the Foam Roller
I really like the Foam Roller, I use it in my Physical Therapy class and it really helps pull the shoulders and relives the pain in the shoulder from my Shoulder Manipulation surgery I had. So I bought my own to continue my stretching at home in between my therapy days. but on the down side the company that sent this to me did not use a postal tracking system and I ordered this on 8/26/14 and did not receive it until 9/5/14 which I think in todays world of shipping it took a little long, just saying. but over all the product is great.

Just like physical therapy!
Have used this at physical therapy and it helped my back, neck, shoulders and arms. I suffer from spinal stenosis and get a lot of pain some days. I lay on this and am able to do several stretches that really help. And, it feels dang good! Very sturdy.

Everyone should own one. Just finished with therapy where I found out about this product. When I am stressed I lay on this for about four minutes and feel so much better afterward.

Perfect half roller
Works perfectly for me lying on back and stretching through my chest. I'm working on lengthening my neck muscles and this is helping. It has just a tiny bit of give to it so it doesn't hurt my back.

Sturdy
I used this in physical therapy for my back, so I decided to purchase this one for home. Rolling back and forth on it is great for loosening the tight muscles in the back. It's very hard, durable and sturdy. Good product for the money.
