this is a subscription based yearly renewal solution........
i did not read all the fine print to realize this was as subscription based package that renewed each year.if you do not choose to renew, you cannot use it to do accounting as the data is then set to read only mode making it not usablereturned product with out opening for refund and will seek out another accounting solution.

Beware, this is a Subscription Software License.
This subscription based license agreement should be published before you purchase. I've used various versions of Peachtree throughout the years and really liked the software. Then Sage obviously got greedy. I fully understand paying for updates or support, but this version goes to "Read Only" if you don't renew the subscription after one year. (It's not THAT good.) You can confirm this by calling them direct at the number on their website, or just find a copy of the license agreement online. Returned and went with the competition, where you can use it as long as you like.

Happy I chose the right software!
I own a lawn care business and needed to replace outdated software with something affordable and with the ability to make changes to the software to fit my needs. The support given to me through Billmaster, has been beyond my expectations. Not only do I receive timely support, but a willingness to customize the software for my specific needs. It has been a great help in operating my business efficiently.

SUBSCRIPTION BASED: You do not own this software
The newest trend in software is to sell you a subscription rather than a piece of software that you own and may use as you like. What's the difference and why is it important? Allow me to explain:A subscription is like a lease. You pay a set amount of money either monthly or for one year and gain access to something (an apartment, a piece of software) and may use it for the agreed upon amount of time. Once the lease (or the subscription) is terminated, you LOSE your right to use said item. That might be fine for apartments, but much less so for software. You are beholden to the company that created the software forever. If they decide to STOP making the software, you lose your data, and even more importantly, your ability to access and use your previously collected data. Or at least you might, and that's a huge risk for something like accounting data. You might be stuck manually entering years worth of data by hand from printed reports (assuming you have them all). When you purchase something, you have several protected rights. One is the right to use what you purchased however you like and for as long as you like (fair use). You also have the right to sell that thing to someone else (First Sale doctrine). With a subscription you have neither of those things, and the lease or subscription holder can take your ability to use the software away from you any time they like. Perhaps they won't, but its an undeniable factor that must be taken into account. All that said, SAGE and QUICKBOOKS use the same model, so you're not really going to have much choice but to have a subscription if you want a professional accounting software. That's sad, but true. It wasn't always this way, and maybe with enough consumer push back, it won't be this way in the future.

Appears to have some bugs to work out in Windows 10
Firstly, it should be noted that this software does not list Windows 10 compatibility in the listing. However, it is the first piece of software I have had any issues with in Windows 10, including a number of older software packages released long before Windows 10 was even released as a developer preview. The first (and least significant) issue I encountered was that the shortcuts created to open the software were already broken immediately after installing the software. It turned out that they simply didn't capitalize the first letter of the executable file's name, as the file was. Simple fix, if you know what you're doing. If you're unfamiliar with computers it may appear as though the software didn't actually get installed. Now, onto the more concerning issues. After getting into the software, I was constantly encountering popups warning me that a script had stopped responding. While I will say that everything appeared to be working properly, and all relevant numbers and calculations were being updated whenever I changed an entry, I am concerned that this may not always be the case with so many scripts that stop responding. What if a script is supposed to populate information entered into formulas in order to show critical outputs, but it crashes while it's running? I wouldn't trust this software to be accurate in Windows 10 while I'm receiving all of these errors.Assuming you are not using Windows 10, or Sage creates a fix for this issue, this software is quite powerful and an excellent time saver. I would recommend this for small business accounting, assuming at least one of these conditions are met.
