Works great
Got these so my filter doesn't suck up any babies that might appear in my tank and it hopes of slowing down the flow of the pump along with it sucking up all the food before my fish can eat it and so far it's worked great. Not sure if you're supposed to rinse them first, which I didn't and it created a white cloud in the water but was quickly absorbed and nobody lost a life but would maybe recommend rinsing them first. It was worth the purchase and they fit great.

Helps keep fry from getting sucked up
These work great for preventing young fry from getting sucked up via the filters. Also holds uneaten foods which both the shrimp and fish will eat.

Inlet filter sponge.
They are good, the ones I received were closed off on one end which is good, because fry can't get sucked in. They could have used a bit coarser or sponge with more holes if you will as these will need frequent attention depending on the density of dissolved biosolids. I thought it was a good value overall.

Frequently ordered
I order these pre filter sponges often for my hang on the back filter and I’ve never had an issue! You can rinse them for multiple uses but I typically toss mine when they are full. This helps keep my filter clear of debris and keeps mg fish and shrimp safe from getting sucked in.

Works as prefilter
Fits on end of my aquaclear 10-20 gal filter intake. I got shrimp and African dwarf frogs and didn’t want suction too strong. Yes it does affect the flow rate, but I wanted the rate slower on purpose and yes they do clog after a while, 2-3 weeks for me if you don’t rinse them… but there are plenty in the pack to take one off and put a new on on and use out the other one! Would buy again!

Clog fast
They’re good, definitely extend your filters cartridge or filter floss etc. but they clog really fast, and I by no means have large waste producing fish, I used it in my betta tank, with 4 harlequin rasboras and 6 neon tetras. Within 2 weeks it’s clogged and it’s not really something you can waste time to clean and reuse, getting it off in the first place without the stuff clogging it is hard. Best way is to use a zip loc sandwich bag and just underwater wrap it up inside the bag shut the filter off and just remove the intake with it. The surface stuff will come off but you’ll have to replace it. Personally I like ones that are more coarse, takes longer for them to clog up, and they’re a bit bitter to clean and reuse. I’d say if you want something to save you time in filter maintenance this isn’t it, causes more work overall for you. Now if you want something fast, and cheap you can get to prevent fry or shrimp being sucked up then these or the coarse ones will work.

Keeps Fry from Getting into the filter
It keeps fry from getting in the filter and slows down the filter output flow slightly. These are the two reasons I purchased this.

Very fine sponge
It traps a LOT of stuff. You'll have to clean the sponge every other day if you have a bigger/more heavily stocked tank. If you have a smaller/sparsely stocked tank you won't have to wring out the sponge as often.
