these speakers work perfectly as advertised. keep in mind, this is not a hi-fi solution. these speakers work for my application - old-school stereo receiver and tv surround. i use them to push a bit of sound into the next room or onto the patio. since its RF radio, it does not rely on blue-tooth or have any lag thereof. you wont shake the room with these, but that's what the nice norman labs speakers are for.

I almost returned this after the first day, but then I discovered something that made the problem go away.Background: I have a 24" HD TV that is a bit too far from my bed. I set this pair of speakers up on my night stands so I didn't have to have the volume the TV turned way up. I plugged the base (transmitter; the half-dome-shaped device) into the headphones jack on my TV, plugged in my speakers (I decided I didn't want to use 12 AA batteries - 6 for each speaker), and turned everything on. The sound quality was crappy, there was a constant hissing sound, and occasional snapping, crackling, and popping (seriously! all static sounds). I tried switching between the transmitter's 2 channels, and I tried using the speakers' scan feature to improve the quality of the audio, but to no avail. In fact, it got worse as the day went on.Solution: The product comes with 2 adapters for the headphone jack (both listed on the product's Amazon page), one of which splits the single pin into red and white (RCA) jacks. I tried this and Voila! No hissing. No static. Just beautiful sound!Summary:= If you only have a headphone jack available, you may experience similar poor performance (but bear in mind that my tv's jack may have been faulty!)= If you have available RCA audio ports, this device comes with an adapter that will let you use them and (probably) achieve better sound= If you don't have outlets available for the two speakers, plan on having 12 AA batteries available= Take a very close look at the pictures. The transmitter base has the flimsiest "looking" antenna I have ever seen. I didn't even notice it when I purchased the product, but when it arrived I thought it was a bit of packing material stuck in the base. This is probably just an aesthetic issue, and in any case, the base is hidden behind the TV. I do wonder if it is poor craftsmanship and if the product will stand the test of time. I will report back if it does.For now, I'm very happyI hope this helps** Update 2.12.13: One speaker has been making popping noises when nothing is going on (i.e. my TV is off). It is white noise. Whatever the reason, something triggers it on and out comes white noise for a moment, then it goes off. Pop. I've unplugged the speaker and turned it back on. I've reset the channel with the channel selector button. The disturbance is random, and infrequent. On rare occasions, it persists for several minutes; this is annoying. If I can troubleshoot it, I'll post the solution. **** Update 3.12.14: Final update is that both speakers developed the popping static I reported on 2.12.13. Despite repositioning the transponder, the static would not go away. I'm going to lower the rating to 3 STARS. Although some might argue that 3-4 years is an adequate life span, I think it is inadequate. **

My wife and I needed some wireless speakers so we could listen to the following anywhere in our home:1) Internet radio stations2) NFL Audio Pass internet radio broadcasts3) MLB Radio broadcasts (of our Cubs, during the season)4) Music from our CD collections and iTunes collectionsWe researched wireless speakers and decided on these.I'm sure we bought these on sale from Amazon.The system comes complete. And I mean, complete.The system includes:The main station that comes with connectors (we connect it to the headphone jack on our Macs). There is a power plug supplied for the main unit.Two separate speakers that are each able to run on batteries or on a power plug. A power plug is supplied for each speaker.There are three power plugs supplied in all.An instruction manual.Setup is super simple (and i had doubts about it) and I was totally pleased at how easy it all was.1) Power up the main unit2) Connect the main unit to the audio source3) Turn on audio source4) Adjust volume on the audio source until the green light on the main unit come on5) Power up each speaker6) Turn on each speaker7) Wait for the green light on the speakers to come on8) Adjust the volume on the speakersAnd you are up and working.It's as easy as that.Once you have the music/broadcast/sound heading from your audio source to the main unit, you must make sure the green light on the main unit is on before any sound will be transmitted to the remote speakers.I would recommend turning the volume up a bit higher on your audio source before adjusting the volume on the remote speakers. It seems to work better when you have a louder signal into the main unit.The speakers work great.Their output is clear and clean. We only get a pop or a his every now and then.The on/off/volume switch on the speakers is a small dial. The dial is a tricky to use at first, but once you get used to it, it is fine.The only problem I have had with the speakers is that they are not extremely stable in their upright position when you need to turn them on or off or adjust their volume.The speakers wobble and tend to fall over easily when you try and use that on/off/volume knob.Using two hands on the speakers helps with this.I gave this 5 stars for:1) Ease of setup2) Ease of use3) Does what it claims to do4) Everything needed comes is included in the box5) The three power plugs for each piece of the unit6) The clear and clean sound of the speakers.If you need wireless speakers, try this system.You will be pleased you did.
