I purchased my BRAUN SERIES7 on a sale of this year, for $119.99. I had to replace my model series 6, which was no longer functional. The cleaner unit helps quite a bit, and gives a very fine close shave. It can be used wet or dry, but I just use a preshave, to shave dry. The cleaner unit seems to keep the electric shaver, quite clean and sharp. The body of the shaver is very comfortable in my hand, which is true of all the Braun shavers that I have owned. This also makes the job of shaving, very pleasent. The beard and mustashe trimmer, work very well and are easy, to interchange the heads. If you are looking for a new comfortable, reliable shaver, you cannot go wrong, with the Braun Series 7 and cleaner.

What I liked about this shaver was that I got a good close shave assuming i had not skipped a day shaving. The shaver does not handle 2 days of facial hair growth well. I bought an inexpensive triple head philips rotary shaver that will cut down 2 days+ of facial hair and would use the Braun then to give me a really good close shave. The Philips does not give a really close shave but cuts down long hair very well compared to the Braun Series 7. If you shave every day, you may find this shaver works fine. If you are someone with really fast growing facial hair, this also might not be a great choice. I suspect that shaver design forces a company to optimize a limited set of hair conditions and you have to decide on what is important to you and what you can live with for weaknesses when picking a shaver.I liked how easy it was to clean this out and the fact it is not sensitive to water if used in the shower. I used blade oil on the blades every time i cleaned it and that seems to have kept the blades very sharp. I never used the automatic cleaning system that came with this shaver as I suspected that approach with water and no oil might shorten the blade

I upgraded from an older series 7 Braun shaver to the 7085 shaver. The shave is much improved and love that the foil stays on the face during the entire shave. It moves over the chin, neck and face with ease and stays flush. This provides a nice close shave without any nicks. The attachments are nice and several were included which are great for sideburn trimming, beard trimming and stubble trimming. Its a little bit of an effort to remove the foil and snap on the other attachments and I miss the pop up trimmer on my old shaver but they all perform well. The cleaning system is a little different and in order to charge the shaver while in the smart care unit, you have to also clean it. The old system didn't require this. Not a big deal as the shaver will last a long time between charges so you can just let it sit in the smart care system and just clean when you need to and get a charge. Now the bad part which is the instructions. There are pictures without much explanations so you have to try decipher what it means. I did figure it out as there is an info button on the shaver and when you press this it runs through the battery status, foil status and cleaning status. I did a chat with with customer service and high bars on each of these are good (full charge, good foil, and clean unit) whereas a low bar/no bar means its time for a charge, the foil needs to be changed and/or the shaver needs to be cleaned. It is a wet/dry shaver so you can shave with soap/water if you want and you can also just clean the shaver/foil under soap and water if you want. So this is a nice feature and can reduce how often you run it through the smart care cleaner. So all in all I am happy with it and the shaver is a nice upgrade.
