So far, so good!
I just received this a few days ago and have already put it together. I will caution that it is made of sanded untreated wood. Having done my research ahead of time, I knew this and am already planning on staining and varnishing. My favorite part about this is that it expands to allow for larger scroll frames, but it also comes with a 16" scroll frame. The frame that comes with it is not a split-rail, thank goodness. There are a few areas where, when you go to collapse it for flat storage, two peices are rubbing against each other and are a bit of a tight fit but this can be taken care of with a little sanding. That, and a few areas with small wood splinters on the edges are the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.The one I received does not use wing nuts, it has black plastic knobs, making it much easier on the hands to assemble and then loosen and tighten as needed. Since I just received this I cannot comment on the durability or functionality as of yet, but will update my review if I encounter any problems.

Excellent Cross Stitch Lap stand!
I wouldn’t say they were excellent if they weren't. I have used Kay’s stands exclusively for years since I got rid of my junky split scroll rods and bare bones stands. In fact I have around 10 of Kay’s stands in all different sizes. I am a Kay’s stand addict I guess you could say! They are sturdy, easy to manipulate and easy to turn the scroll frame over to get to the back. It keeps my fabric taut. I also use Qsnaps with them. (All of my stands have universal clamps to hold my frames.) some say you cannot get a Qsnap to hold tightly in the clamp. I never had a problem. I just line up the edge of the Qsnap clamp so that is is in line with the universal clamp groove and it stays in place until I loosen the clamp to remove it. I would be lost without these stands!

So much easier on the hands
Several stitchers I know use this specific scroll frame for larger pieces. I had always used hoops but decided to try this for the latest, larger cross stitch piece. It's great! My left thumb doesn't cramp from using a hoop. The piece also stays flat instead of crimped and crumpled up. It does take a bit more effort to flip the frame for tying on and off the threads. Sometimes it's in my lap, sometimes on a table. Either way works well.

Missing bolt and knob
It was missing a bolt. I eagerly awaited this and it's been very frustrating trying to find a replacement bolt. The wood isn't as sturdy as I'd like. It's a soft wood whatever it is. This means the bolts can easily strip the hexagon impression they make to hold them still for tightening. I have to tighten everything about once or twice a day but I have mine mounted on a stand and I'm constantly moving everything so that's actually pretty good. I'm still PO about the bolt and knob

Makes needlepoint a dream to do!
I bought this 2 months ago and it has made needlepoint so much more enjoyable. The wood is unfinished and a tad bit splintery in the tray but that can be easily smoothed out. It’s not a deal breaker at all. Overall this frame and stand is great quality. I use it both on my lap and on a table. I just adjust the height a bit and that does the trick. Don’t waste your time with an embroidery hoop or stretch frame made of cheap plastic. This is well worth the investment.

Love it!
All of the rave reviews I read of this product are true... The lap scroll frame is great! It's easy to put together (although you are only provided with a simple diagram so it was a bit intimidating at first, though I figured it out quickly), it's of great quality and it makes cross-stitching immensely easier. There is less strain on your hands compared to gripping a hoop and it allows you to work faster. Adjusting the frame and flipping it to start/stop threads takes a bit of getting used to, but after a day or so, it comes naturally. So glad I invested in the frame. It increased my interest in cross-stitching and it's a nice way to display progress on the project :)K's Creation's site is handy with tips, by the way!

Smooth transaction
I bought this as a gift for my daughter in law. Arrived on time and as described. I’ve used K’s frames for years and hope she’ll love hers as much as I have mine.
