Awesome locking power, don't count on disassembling
Good:I fashioned a pants drawstring with elastic band and Paracord, using these as the cord lock on the Paracord string. Works as well as my tactical belt against all the pressures of bending and twisting of mild to high impact activity. I liked these in particular because I wanted the cord lock on the inside of the pants where it won't show. This style of lock is fairly slender and rests flat inside the pants so no discomfort, and it's not metal so it doesn't get hot, even on a hot summer day.Not so good:Once assembled, these are incredibly difficult to get back apart. I put a couple on backwards and had to sacrifice them as unusable. A little diagram to show which direction these are supposed to go on the strings would have been helpful (the locking end is the narrow end. The loose ends of a drawstring should come out the wide end). I accidentally pulled the strings all the way out of one because I hadn't gotten around to putting a knot in the ends of them. My husband managed to pull the cord lock apart so I could put the strings back through, but I don't know how he managed to do it - just heard a lot of grunting and growling.Neutral:I had to have a screw driver on hand for assembly, to aid with prying the black part open to fit the white wheel in, and also to help push the white wheel in. With this, assembly is pretty easy.

One star off as there were no instructions, and if you (like I did) put the cam in the housing before you thread the shoelace through - well, lets just say you will have one useable less pair. Otherwise a great product used on regular as well as paracord-width "Rhino Laces".

Great for cords under continuous tension
Bought these and the bow style for a comparison test for drawstring shorts. So far, I greatly prefer these. No springs or plastic bows to weaken over time. Note that string tension keeps the locking gear in the lock position, which in turn increases the friction on the string in proportion to the tension force. They take a pretty fierce tug for the string on my shorts to slip. Pulling the string in the other direction ("out the back", or the wide end) causes them to release easily.Where they might be inferior to spring/bow models is if the cord is not under continuous tension; without the tension, I can see the locking gear getting loose and then not locking later when needed. They are a little effort to remove and install, as the gear must be pried out of the enclosure, but I did it with bare hands, and furthermore I'll probably leave them attached to the shorts and only replace them when they deteriorate from multiple washings.

They work very well once you figure them out.Only give 3 stars for lack of directions and the trail and error I had to go through to get them right. If they came with instructions I would give them 5 stars easily cause they do exactly what they say they will do.

Holding so far...
Mar 2019Using to tension out my inlines.Bout a .25'' thru the first eyelets & just shy of a full exact inch thru the second eyelets holding about 15-25lbs of static force normally & bout 30-110lbs dynamic load when moving.Skating up to 12 hours 4-6 days a week, & so far they holding their tension. I put Allot of stress on my laces, an insane amount (only Ironlace is able to keep & not snap) & so far they haven't cracked or snapped on me. The plastic is indeed sturdy. The wheel lock is easy enough to slide back to readjust & dial in.So far a solid product & I'm now eyeing other items on their website.I'll drop an edit round July to update how they keeping once the heat really hits & the suns been on them.

Quality plastic
The wheel is Delrin I would say, the housing is some other nylon plastic. Parts are quality. Works well with Paracord 550. Paracord 750 will be too fat for this lock. Easy to use and won’t pull apart under tension like the spring loaded cord locks. Delivered with the wheel out of the housing, thread both cord ends through the housing in the correct direction, then push the wheel into the housing until it engages into the slot. It won’t come apart even under rugged use.

Very useful. I used these to make some adjustable length 550 chords for camping. I used them to hang a water bladder from a tree, a clothesline, or as tiedowns for a tarp or shelter. They will start to slip under a really heavy load (25-30lbs), but will stay put better if you use a knot or a plastic stopper. They are very difficult (almost impossible) to disassemble after you've locked the two pieces together, so be sure to get your desired chord length correct before clicking the wheel into place. Over all, it was exactly what I was looking for and I was surprised at how strong they are.

Good, but no directions
I used these to make duffle bags to use for Christmas gifts. They are strong but took me a few tries to figure out how to put them together.

Paid for 10 got 9 usable ones.
My 10pk came with 12 shells and 9 wheels. Not sure what the deal is but luckily I only need 8 of them.
