Liber Kaos should have been P.J. Carroll's 1st published work.
After reading Liber Null and attaining nothing new, and after reading Psychonaut and being even less impressed and having the feeling of returning both books, I for not much of reason wish to keep it to be a part of a complete collection of Peter J. Carroll's works. Though after reading his first two books with not being impressed I had this sense that his third book was going to be even more of the same useless chaotic diatribe. But with a willingness to read it, to understand his view, I must say that Liber Kaos is f***ing amazing compared to his first two loads of crap. With that in mind I can honestly say wholeheartedly if all books of magick disappeared, especially Liber Null & Psychonaut, and Liber Kaos was the only one in existence then the practice of magick will still be accessible to all that will exploit it's miraculous wonder. The organization of Liber Kaos is much better than his first two books. Part 2: Psychonomicon, I must say is the best elucidation of magickal practice that has been brought to print that is easy to understand, stripped of dogma, and cultural/symbolic bias, even though it implies it's use within his Chaos Magick Theory. Part 1: Liber Kaos, regardless if it's true or not which at this juncture of Chaos Philosophy matters not, is an interesting take on physics in context of magickal theory and practice.Though to have an awesomely complete work that illustrates his views of magick without dogmatic bias of specific practice, I would say take Liber MMM from Liber Null(the book for the most part is regurgitated information which is old news anyway; and Liber MMM is really the only part of the book that is of practical use) and compile that with Liber Kaos. In the spirit of Chaos Magick I say drop Liber Null & Psychonaut and keep Liber Kaos.

Makes the incomprehensible comprehensible...sort of
Fantastic introduction to ideas of differing kinds of magick. If you're going into this without any background in the occult, anthropology, psychology, misc sciences, etc, you may have a hard time following some of the concepts. I'm someone who's been studying many cultures, mythologies, belief systems, material systems etc and understood some things but not quite how they fit together in terms of the abstract. This book on Chaos magic does a good job at connecting the dots if you've already got some knowledge in various subjects. While reading I took about 10 pages of notes and intend to use the information found herein in my own practices of self empowerment. While I agree that some parts are verbose, it makes more sense if you read though the whole page or chapter and go over it again because his writing style tends to not get to the point until towards the end of an idea. Understandable, helps the info to stick in the subcon better. It is very dense material and took me some time to get through thoroughly but I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a stripped down somewhat easy to understand outline of what magic is what it can do for you. All is mind, there are many paths, you do you etc etc. Good read. Keeping on my shelf.

ordered used- didn't realize every other line would be annotated.
I'm excited to start reading the book, I ordered used to save money, but the book is annotated all throughout which is distracting. its also annotated in pen so I can't even erase it. otherwise, the book is in almost new condition. given the annotations do highlight good points but if I knew it would have been annotated throughout I would have just spent the 5 extra dollars to buy it new.

Great!
This arrived fast and accurate. I've Read both Liber Null and this book many times over the past decade and can't help but keep going back to this one. it is a perfect Primer and even Advanced course in Chaos Magick. you will not be dissapointed unless your are expecting something more along the lines of wicca as a marketting gimmick and have no clue as to the depth of real Magick. enjoy enjoy enjoy destroy

Good but wordy
I do in fact like this book. However, I feel that a great deal of energy was spent by the author in a mixture of trying to show us how intelligent he is (I.E. crazy math equations he made up), and trying to over complicate simple concepts. Although I feel both of these are true, it is a good book if you can read around those bits. If you are not new to magic, I would suggest skipping to the practical section of the book. You will miss some clever things you may enjoy, but its a lot less annoying than reading his pointless sections like math equations he made up to try to show magic can be proven scientifically. If you are new to magic....I still suggest doing the same. Still good practical section though, worth a read.

Good Ingroduction to Magick
I like the authoritative style and a good introduction to magick. It opens my mind and makes me think about willpower in life.

Choatic shamanic liberation
I have found this work enjoyable and helpful in defining and expanding my beliefs. I was surprised how familiar much of this felt in terms of early magical adventures and had inspired me to pick up a journey of self discovery and personal riual that i'd let slide. Finding a way to integrate much of what i'd learned from other sources into a workable system.I wish i'd read it when someone asked why my box of mystical items contained childrens toys, and other random bits, my explanation was fumbling then but Peter Carrolls words would of given a sense of expression.
