Thick, Responsive Tone with a Wonderful Texture
Since I started using the NY/XL and XT line, I've not been able to find a string quite as punchy, while balancing brightness and warmth, excellent and extended tension for tuning and intonation, and adaptable for my broad my playing style. The range of string weight gives very consistent tone and playability from top to bottom. The length fits perfectly for my Ibanez SR-500 and SR-505. My educated/estimated guess is the amount I trim on installation would be sufficient for a long-scale setup. These strings are worth their reasonable cost for how long the keep their vibrancy; I regularly use FastFret on all of my guitars to help prevent buildup and further protect from corrosion. As always, your mileage may vary. The quality of the few purchases I've made over the years seems to have stood up with some spiffy packaging upgrades.

Nice strings that retain brightness
These have been great for my p bass that doesn’t get used often. They seem like new after months. If you want a string that doesn’t get dull, give these a try. I can roll the treble off to get that fundamental thump, roll it back up for a brighter sound. Nice strings!

LARGE bass tone!
These strings sound amazing! I’ve very picky about my string choice, I’ve tried just about every brand in my 20 years of playing bass! D’addario makes really good strings! Wolfgang plays D’addario! I put these strings on my new-to-me Jackson CBX David Ellefson bass! The combination between D’addario and EMG electronics makes for a very LARGE, clear, defined bass tone! The coated string feels and sounds like a new string and has no “coated” string feel! I will be using D’addario for the rest of my days!

Excellent for working bassists
Fender Ultra Jazz 5 string player. I have been using uncoated D'addario nickel roundwounds for decades. They would be dead in about a week of rehearsals and gigs. Using high end cabs with sensitive tweeters, I'd have to reduce the treble on the amp after installing a new set because it was just too much rattle and bite. These are great out of the pack with the eq flat....and the new string tone stays the same for WEEKS instead of days. Even the low B doesn't go dead after 1 gig, wow. Great feel, great slap tone. Something about them makes passive pickups sound epic also. A money saver for a gigging bassist. Seriously.

Decent strings
Not bad! They feel great and after two months of heavy use in a cover band they still sound like new. Only complaint is they feel a bit stiffer than the nyxls that I’m used to and cause a minimal amount of hand fatigue in comparison but that’s just my thoughts. Either way I plan to use this set until they are shot and switch back to the nyxls. Great for beefy tone, clear top end, and they sound decent for double stops and triad chording. Good price and they fit my 35” scale lakland great.
