Graphique de la Rue: The Signs of Paris Hardcover – September 1, 2015

So many monuments, cafes, cathedrals, sumptuous meals, quiet moments, Top-of-the-Tower experiences, and beyond-memorable Museums.Paris comes roaring at us, and it is (as advertised) dizzying and spectacular. We return home with so many memories and recollections that are impossible-to-decode and quantify. Lucky for US, design maven Louise Fili has trained her laser eye on the incredible signage and typography of Paris.........and curated this graphic-centric and stylish collection of images. While we were looking elsewhere, Louise (as ever) was "noticing"; and this beautiful volume is the outcome. An ideal book to keep nearby -- it is not only an elegant object, but you can open to any page and be rewarded. I especially loved the chapter on mosaics -- the photos are wonderfully convincing, almost-tactile. Far more than just eye candy, Ms. Fili's words about her process of photographing and memorializing the signs adds insight and a vibrant sense of the Joy of Travel.

No surprises here. The book is highly recommended

Lovely book of French signage with stunning design and typography from an extremely talented photographer and journalist. Will transport you and anyone who loves typography!

Gift for my daughter who is a Francophile. She loves it and now wants to see every sign on her next trip to Paris.
