Review “The gouache and acrylic pictures-of round-headed characters, blocky houses and green shrubbery-keep the simple message at the forefront, and Lacey’s unadorned card demonstrates how anyone can make a small, thoughtful gesture to a friend.”“The unusual art (nicely sized for small-group sharing), and the idea of wishes fulfilled can’t help but leave little ones with a warm, happy feeling themselves.”“Luthardt sends his direct storytelling out with gentle, happy illustrations, enclosing characteristic emotional content in the package… This is a colorful, seamless blend of simple sentiment mixed with happy intent putting a stamp on why we should continue to use the post office for more than just junk mail.”“Whimsical characters in vibrant colors fill the artwork… This fun read-aloud will charm children.” Read more From the Back Cover An afternoon hike in the Sierra Mountains turns into a struggle for survival when two teenage girls become hopelessly lost in an electrical storm and must rely on their own wits and strength to endure. Great illiustrations
This a short and sweet story that is illustrated very well. It also has people of all colors which is very hard to find in books.

Well Loved
My two year old loves this book. It is one of the few books where she actually appears to follow the story from Larabee's initial disappointment at being told "no" to his ultimate "yip yip yip yip...." excitement. Something about this is very relatable to her. She also loves the well placed dialogue and animal sounds as Larabee goes about his day. I highly recommend it, and wish they would write more Larabee stories. This character deserves a series!

Kindergarten Reviewers at The Potomac School, McLean, VA
Kindergartners enjoyed this engaging story of Larabee, a mailman's dog, who longs to receive his own mail. Most found the plot just silly enough to satisfy both young listeners (grades Pre-K through K) and young readers(1st and 2nd graders), as it featured simple vocabulary and lots of animal sounds. These five and six year olds liked the illustrator's cartoony style with its bright colors, sparse scenery and humans with huge heads. They all agreed that Lacey McNabb is the book's heroine, and Mrs. Fellini, the villain-- made obvious by that front yard sign! What was our reviewers' favorite part? Larabee's personalized mailbox-- which made them wonder, "Do dog's dreams come true?"

A Family Favorite
We have recently discovered Larabee, and my two-year-old just can't get enough. I often find her "reading" the book to herself. As for me, I think it's an endearing story, and I almost shed a tear the first time I read it straight through. I also appreciate the racial diversity of the different characters in the book, and I like that it took two typical enemies (mailman and dog)and made them partners and friends. I agree with a previous reviewer; I wish Larabee had his own series!

The illustrations in this story are so simple and adorable. It's a slice-of-life type story with simple words and a fun, happy end. Very colorful, lovely illustrations. My kids can't get enough of Larabee.
