Is this the latest Just Dance for Wii U? Do you need a special controller?

You do not need a special controller for this game. There is another Just Dance, which is Just Dance 2014, both are for the Wii U. As far as which came first, I'm not sure.

Does it come with a Matt, or how does it work?

no it does not come with matt, your wii has a sensor bar and when you hold the remote in your right hand it can detect movements. You can move freely as long as you are in front of sensor bar. hint place sensor bar on top of tv or eye level to get best quality. recommend game a lot of fun even for little ones all you have to do is hold remote in right hand and follow along with the dancing on the screen also great work out

does this work with the older wii game box?

This is the "Wii U" version, so no. Just choose the Wii version up top.

Is this product unopened & in it's original wrapping?

The game I bought was brand new in its original wrapping. If you use the filter option on the screen, you can pick new and it will display only new games.
