Set up was a little clunky but works fine
If you're looking for a "house" phone that will work independent of your internet connection this product works fine. Battery backup is a nice plus. Setup is pretty straightforward but I did hit a setup glitch when the base unit wouldn't connect to register with Ooma while the 4g receiver was working fine. Support was very easy to reach by phone but not really all that helpful. Long story short, I believe the problem was with the USB connection to the 4g receiver. It uses a micro USB plug on the bottom of the 4g unit which is very awkward to connect. The cable looked connected but after some trial and error I gave to a hard push and it finally "clicked" into place. Phone service then connected while I was awaiting a call back from Ooma's advanced support. (I suspect this micro USB thing is an issue for more than few reviewers who have experienced setup issues.) I've been using it for several days with no further issues. Call quality is as good any you'll get these days. Online dashboard makes the account easy to manage. Since the initial setup I disconnected and moved the unit to a more convenient location. Everything quickly powered up and connected fine after that move. It does what I wanted it to and I'm happy with it.

Close (NOT) but no tomato
This was the worst piece of technology I have ever tried to use. The instructions say to set the system up, and it will initialize within 45 minutes. 48 hours later it is still flashing, not initialized. Tried to set up an account, fail - said to contact customer support. They tried to be helpful. Could not initialize either. Sent it back (as this one appeared to be a return, the mix of cables and AC adapters was not what the box said.Got a new one, could not initialize. Could not set up account - now I have two accounts. Contact customer support, still referring to old account, explain there are now two, I returned the unit with the first account. They said (of course) it was my fault because the LTE Adapter (antenna) was registered to the old system and old account. But the new one will not initialize either - says I.Go to second, then third tier support. They sent me a new LTE adapter, pre-configured for my base unit. The letter that accompanied it said all I had to do was hook everything up. 24 hours later it is still flashing, will not initialize. Call tech support and they say it is all set up, ready to go. Will not let me set up account properly. Three strikes and you're out.I have excellent Verizon coverage at my home. I called to cancel service - that was an adventure in itself. Three days later I get charged for a month's service. That was for the first account - hmm. When I told you I wanted to cancel all services and get away from you people, what part of ALL did you not get. Another call, another round of special offers, another round of explaining that I had already returned all the pieces and parts to Amazon and to the company (for the special pre-configured unit that wasn't). They seemed to have difficulty with English.FINALLY, managed to wipe this off my shoes. I won't say don't use this, just sharing what my experience was.

Nice little gadget
I am totally impressed with this thing! I am having to rely on the cell tower due to poor internet service in my area, but I haven't had very many issues with it. Most of my issues are with the cell tower in my area being upgraded, not the Ooma. I would definitely recommend this product!! I am saving $60-$70 a month by using this!!!!!!

Setup wasn't seamless, but it works as advertised
It has been a great purchase. When I got tired enough of paying more than $50 each month for a plain old telephone service line, I bought this.I had an issue or two trying to set it up. The device would give me a solid red status indicator (which isn't a thing, per the documentation) when I first set it up, but within an hour or so I had a solid blue indicator (which is the way it should be). It has worked fine ever since. I am using it primarily on my wired Internet service, but have tested it several times on the 4G network as well and it has worked fine each time.I disconnected my home wiring from the phone company wiring at the NID and connected my Ooma to the phone jack making all my outlets work just as they did before.Porting my number from my POTS service took only two business days.

Terrible service, system doesn't work with Excellent 4G connectivity. Customer Service worst ever.
Purchased for elderly household to saver cost of an ATT landline. Service never worked for more than an hour after reboot. Calls would complete with one-way audio. Tech support (off-shore apparently) does not listen to the customer and was unable to resolve the issue over a week and multiple hours spent working on the issue. They refused to replace the unit (that is until I called to cancel service- now they want to do what should have been done previously.) When I call to cancel, they are taught to not accept a cancellation. I had to ask for cancellation six times and they still persisted with offering replacement, discount, etc. Even told me I should have a phone system for these folks and suggested I keep the broken Ooma System "for emergencies." You just cannot make this up. Plus, I "should keep the phone number for $2 a month-" for what exactly? Expect a hard sell when dealing with Ooma. I previously had the Internet based Telo and it was fine, but this 4G based system is great in theory but broken in this implementation. You shouldn't have to reboot your phone to be able to call 911 or others for help.

It was clear sound and on instantly
It worked with the phone system I have ,so I keep all six extra phones I have. I can keep the 911 service I want in each room. Nothing that is cordless is perfect but this is close. The power back up is so important to me.
