Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought a dozen or so of these fish container snack items to fill out an order I had placed, after trying kippers out, at the local store, when I was seeking some variety aside from tuna. Size:The size of the containers is snack/small meal size. One container is pretty satisfying.Oil content:The kippers are sitting in oil, which has a mild fish flavor. It doesn’t smell too fishy. Texture:The meat is very soft, and forks off, easily. I think that there’s no bones in the containers.Quality:The product tastes good, and it’s affordable priced, so buyers can have a tasty alternative to tuna.Taste:The taste is similar to trout.

These are a nice change from the standard smoke flavored kippered herring. At less than $2 a can (8-'25) they are a good value. I don't waste any of the liquid either, figuring that a lot of nutrition ends up in the broth from the canning process. The lemon and pepper flavors are pleasantly strong but not overwhelming.

King Oscar brand wild caught kipper snacks are a step above the other brands. I’ve been buying smoked herring filets for over 50 years and of all the brands I’ve tried, I’ve never tasted a better product. They have a nice light smoked flavor and packed in salty water are always fresh tasting and delicious. Also are very affordable at this price point. Try King Oscar brand kipper snacks - you will be “hooked for life” - and you can quote me on that!

Genuinely surprised how good this was for how “cheap” it is compared to other tinned herrings. Not too salty, umami taste, and the broth didn’t have a harsh fishy smell like some other brands.I think I found my brand.

I have been eating kippers and other small fish, like sardines, for years before they were trendy. These are absolutely delicious! They have a mild smokey flavor, and are meaty. The can I opened had large fillets- not mushy or small pieces. They have a firm, yet flakey texture and are of high quality. I would definitely recommend. (I had already eaten some with red pepper flakes and onion powder, that’s why they look broken up in the photo.)

I love this snack, because it taste good and it's high in iron and other minerals. Plus it's supper affordable... even in 2025.
