Blu-ray audio pressing. Features stunning new 5. 1 surround sound and stereo mixes of the album, (created from the original multi-track master tapes by Alan Parsons) and the promotional videos of "Don't Answer Me" & "Prime Time". First released in February 1984, Ammonia Avenue was the seventh album by THE Alan Parsons Project, the brainchild of composer, musician and manger Eric Woolfson and celebrated producer and engineer Alan Parsons. The inspiration for the album title came from a visit Woolfson had made to the ICI Chemical plant in Billingham, England after meeting ICI chairman Sir John Harvey-Jones on a flight from New York. Upon visiting the plant, Eric Woolfson noticed a long street called Ammonia Avenue, devoid of people and trees and dominated by miles of pipes. The album sessions featured the contribution of musicians such as Ian Bairnson (guitars), David Paton (bass), Stuart Elliott (drums) with Eric Woolfson playing keyboards and lead vocals on four of the album's nine songs. Colin Blustone, Chris Rainbow and Lenny Zakatek also provided lead vocals on the remaining songs. Ammonia Avenue would become one of the biggest selling albums for The Alan Parsons Project, attaining gold status in many European countries and the USA. The album featured such classic compositions as Dancing On A Highwire, Since The Last Goodbye and the stunning title track. Ammonia Avenue also spawned the hit singles Don't Answer Me (a Top Ten hit throughout Europe and in the USA) and Prime Time.

Simply Excellent!
I have liked the Alan Parsons Project for many years and have a few of his albums in the 5.1 format, so I decided I'll give Ammonia Avenue a go.How did it sound? Exactly what you expect from Alan Parsons. Perfection! With this man's credentials, you need not doubt for a second that you'll get an inferior sounding product. What he doesent know about recording engineering and production isn't worth knowing about. I have a pretty decent 5.1 system with floor standing speakers and this disc pushes the system to squeeze out the best you can get, sound wise. I just posted a slamming review regarding the new George Harrison "All Things Must Pass" 50th anniversary edition. That is an example on how not to engineer and mix records, unlike this one, that is. Definately worth buying!

Fantastic in every way.
The media could not be loaded. Only started listening to APPa wee while ago, gotta say pretty fast it’s become one of my favourite chill out albums. Great 5.1 production the clarity of individual instruments and separate vocals stand out somewhat special in my opinion. Do t even hesitate to buy as this will be a fast favourite in your collection.Ps Apologies for background noise in video review my house is busy almost always.

about the sound
No need to review the quality of the songs, you're probably here because you like the album or AAP at least.the new 5.1 mix is wonderful, however I noticed some harshness in the higher range, especially with the vocals, even slightly distorted at some areas, I never noticed on the remastered CD.This is my 4th purchase of this album (80's vinyl, flat sounding 80's CD, great remastered 2000's CD) and now this blu ray edition, but if you're a sucker, like me for 5.1 remixes and APP, just buy it, you won't be sorry.By the way the format of the case is just a regular BR case, unlike the presented images of this release showing everywhere, so it fits nicely with your other BR's.

Very good sound
The first comment I will make is there is plenty of bass in this recording it is very well recorded and balanced as far as the sound comes over I am using an active sub-woofer set at 0dB. Also there was a review commenting about destination in the vocal region well I can tell you with my Denon AVX2000 Receiver and speaker set up again there is no distortion in the vocals this was recorded in a studio on pro equipment back in the 1980s and in stereo HD Audio or Surround in high definition this is very impressive I have over 60 blu ray audio discs and I'm impressed with the format just more in the 11mm case I'm not a lover of card case's. As for the album it's my first time on this album and I'm hooked this is my 3rd play in three days

Extremely Accessible Music
Alan Parsons is one of those artists who has always been around and unfortunately I never ever bought or listened to any of his albums. The only music I buy these days has to be 5.1 Surround so when this one popped up in search I thought I would give it a go. Having Unlimited Amazon Music I listened to it first on Alexa. The album was so good I just had to buy it. I don't have my surround system set up at the moment but am looking forward to playing this disc. The music was Extremely Accessible and very easy to listen to. I was also surprised to learn that it was actually made in 1984 so I'm a bit behind on the Alan Parsons scene. I will definitely be checking him out further

Made me reassess the album
Well, this was a surprise, although it shouldn't have been. I've owned the original album for a long while and thought it to be OK - great to listen to, but not my favourite APP album. However, this new 2020 5.1 Surround Mix is lovely - not overpowering but quality. It's made me listen again to the album in a different way. Sounds are crisp and nicely spaced out around the room, with voices and instruments seeming the better for it.Well done to the Project for offering this separately from the big expensive box set. It's enough for me, and I'm enjoying the album all over again.
