Classic Tale with Universal Tellings
It’s notable how the author uses a long and detailed script for all the characters, it evokes both modern English and the words of a Classic Greek Epic. For anyone who wants to perform this story as a One Act play, this book is a good go-to source.

Easy to read prose makes for a wonderful experience of the mind
I liked the updated modern language used to tell an ancient tale. It brought the characters to a modern feel and the antagonists felt well-rounded as well. It was a quick read, but it touched on an aspect of humanity that is often overlooked in modern fiction. It is about what is is to be human, not what it is like to be another human. Depth is troubled times is refreshing.

Magnificent Retelling of a Classic
A friend gave me a copy of this book a week or so ago. I was a bit apprehensive about slogging through an extended poem on such a familiar subject -- 60+ pages of haiku! However, Eaton has done something splendid, magnificent even, with this story. This is a moving and fascinating poem that grabbed my attention and kept it. I really felt for Eurydice as she sat alone and unloved, waiting for her husband to come and rescue her. The poet also really nailed Orpheus' plea to Hades and the-eventually-malicious Persephone. Even though I had a pretty good idea of how the story would end, I found myselfengrossed on the journey from Hades to the surface. There's even a clever twist to the end -- I won't give it away, but if there is a message, it might be: "Be careful what you wish for -- you just might get it." Eaton's retelling brings new dimension and perspective to the characters and renders their plight meaningful to the 21st-century reader and/or spectator. A must read for any student of the classics as well as for those who enjoy poetry and theater. I stronglyrecommend this book and look forward to reading more from the author.
