What makes these “eco friendly”? Are they biodegradable?

I don't think so, they are heavy plastic bags, like a heavy garbage bag.

Do these tear when scooping? We have to dig down to the bottom of the box since my cats bury their boot like we bury our dead.

I have never had it tear. I have been using it for about a year. Have 2 cats.

Does a lot of litter go unused and to waste

I only used them once. My loving boy passed away after ordering. Gave the rest to a neighbor.
