Another Wonderful Boo Walker Read
A review of Red Mountain Burning without spoilers is difficult because it’s so full of delicious details that want to be told! A review that’s not full of summation, however, is the only way to entice future readers without ruining all the surprises—and there are many surprises!Readers will fall in love with, be angry with, be befuddled by, and almost might even want to write out some of the characters in Red Mountain Burning, simply to get rid of their negative influence to the mountain and to the other characters—but you’ll know that without every single one of them, the story wouldn’t be so rich and full and true to life. Each character will evoke either an understanding or a lack of understanding; a sense of calm or frustration; sympathy or empathy; sadness or happiness. One thing’s certain: No character will leave the reader with no emotion at all. Each character, from a young age through to an elderly age, has his or her own personality that you’ll love, be inspired by, detest, or want to throw off the mountain. It’s such fun to watch each character evolve as he or she deals with life on the mountain and the relationship interaction between the characters. As an older-generation reader, the story of Otis and Joan was of particular interest to me. Otis, an old curmudgeon (and who doesn’t know one of those?) is known on the mountain as The Grapefather because of his vast knowledge of vines and wines, but it looks like he’ll never be referred to as The Relationship Guru, because he seems to know almost nothing about personal connection with another human being. Even when Otis is acting like a jerk, he sometimes knows he’s acting like a jerk, but he seems to be unable to stop himself and gives no worry to the consequences. Joan, who should be known as The Patient and Understanding One, knows a lot about life and miraculously how to deal with Otis, no matter how hard he struggles with the world that he seems to think is out to get him. Joan is the one who has a level head on her shoulders and who manages to make Otis see the light, but it’s quite a struggle getting him to where he needs to be, even when he knows where he should be but is reluctant to go there. Without giving away too much information: Otis does manage to redeem himself, and an amazing sense of humor evolves that will make you laugh out loud. Seeing Otis evolve is a treat.Every character has a wonderful story with lots of ups and downs and will keep you guessing along the way. Just when you think you have it all figured out, you’ll be surprised. No loose ends were left at the end of Red Mountain Burning. You won’t be left wondering about anything. As a fan of Boo Walker’s writing since reading Red Mountain, I also read his other previously written books while waiting for at least a sequel about the characters on Red Mountain. It was only natural to want to devour every word of what became the chronicles, and I have never been disappointed. Red Mountain, Red Mountain Rising, and Red Mountain Burning are all delightful reads full of various characters’ personality traits; trials and tribulations; downfalls and growth; decision and indecision; and breaking up and coming together. The author has a way of making his readers feel as if we actually know the characters in his books, and Red Mountain Burning continues the practice—he has written another wonderful book about Red Mountain and its inhabitants. It’s not necessary to read the previous Red Mountain books to understand the story in Red Mountain Burning, but it’s something readers might want to do, just for the great experience of getting to know the characters even better and to learn about all the twists and turns in their lives that put them where they are.As the Red Mountain chronicles come to an end with Red Mountain Burning, I’m grateful to have had the first Red Mountain book pop up as a suggested read on Amazon. The summary looked good, so I ordered and read Red Mountain and became an immediate fan of Boo Walker’s writing style. Please do yourself a favor and read all of Boo’s books.

Heartwarming series
I just finished all three books. A little slow getting started and at times I stopped and went back. At the end I found myself in tears. That tells me this was a good series with great character development. Enjoyed very much.

A good read
This entire series is full of drama, excitement, and carefully crafted characters who fill their roles well. From the prequel to the epilogue of the last book in this series, Walker describes and defines his characters well. There is always a good way and a best way to develop a story line and character growth without sacrificing the art of writing. Walker chose the best route. I like happy endings, but I prefer realistic ones that evoke a satisfactory sigh as I close the book. Reading this series was not a waste of my time. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A lovely completion of the trilogy!
The feelings are raw and the revelations of the heart are big in this book. You can actually see it continuing…

heartfelt and tear jerker
I did not realize it was the third book of a series (even though it says it) but reading it on its own, you still got the feel for all the characters. Only one other book made me feel something so deeply. This was a fantastic read, now I’ll have to go and read the first two.

Book 3 a must read
If you want to get the entire story completed. I guess i kinda knew something was going to happen knowing this was the last one but it was still must as good. Of course Margot was my favorite but i never thought of her as a blond, crazy. I thought she was Brunette. I need another now book now from Boo. I've read well the others and get were at 5 stars. Good read
I’ve enjoyed the 4 books of the Red Mountain series. Now I want to explore their lives and stories more !!! Sad that there won’t be another book , but I am ready for a continuation anyway.A lot of twists and surprises for the families on the mountain. Interesting, entertaining, funny, sad, and heartfelt.

Pretty good read, only moderately irritating
Interesting plot and engaging characters kept me reading despite the heavy dose of what appear to be the key elements of”women’s fiction” — lengthy descriptions of home decor, clothes, food porn, and numerous ruggedly handsome sensitive new age men. This trilogy would have easily fit into one volume if a character had ever simply put her fork into a salad, rather than put her fork into a salad of mixed small organic lettuces drizzled with first press olive oil and sprinkled with tiny shavings of … You get the picture. I guess I am not a fan of “women’s fiction” and find the genre somewhat insulting.

Wonderful
I've loved this trilogy of Red Mountain books. The amount of research/knowledge that went into the workings of a winery can only be imagined. The stories of those who live on Red Mountain are just as vibrant. Excellent read, highly recommend

Red Mountain Trilogy
I just loved these three books about a group of people living on Red Mountain. The characters were so well described that you thought you knew them personally and I liked all of them - even the grumpy and strange ones. The setting, the wine, the wine making: everything is vivid and enticing and you just wish you could be part of this group and join them in their endeavors. The story is compelling and contains some action and suspense but mostly it is about being human, about companionship, about nature, about hope and never giving up.

Some spoilers ahead , so be wary.
OK, so after thinking about what I wanted to write, I've come back to review. I was so disappointed in a lot of ways with this last in the series. I wanted to love it and feel it was wrapped up nicely. I do think the characters were still real, showing their flawed selves, especially Otis and Carmen. But this time it went over the top. Otis was totally unhinged and it made me really dislike him, I guess it highlights how dangerous an obsession can become. I really felt for Joan. Carmen was vile in this one, no redeeming features but again shows how addiction is destructive. I know not everyone gets a HEA in real life , but Brooks so deserved one. Margot was still my fave character. I think another short novella set 5 years in the future would be great. To see what becomes of Em and Jasper , and the rest of the mountain.
