I use this to help treat post menopausal symptoms. I also use soy isoflavones. It took about 6 weeks to resolve the intense hot flashes I was experiencing after getting off of topical estrogen. I loved the ingredients. Simple and organic- no weird fillers. Highly recommend.

For years I have suffered with severe emotional dysregulation and PMS. When I entered peri-menopause in my mid-40's, it got worse. I've been plied with Paxil (gained weight, cried all the time, acne), Prozac (caused psychotic reaction), birth control pills (same as Paxil), Xanax (fell asleep at work) and Propanolol (I felt like a zombie walking through mud). I've tried St. John's Wort with zero results, Sam-E with zero results; wild yam extract, even a different brand of primrose oil yielded no relief; you name it, I've tried it. I had grown so despondent that it felt like there was no hope for me.I've always preferred to take natural remedies, but I want them to work. I already take Barleans Fish Oil and powdered greens, and added coconut oil recently. I eat (mostly) healthy foods and drinks. So I decided to try this primrose oil. I started taking it about 2 weeks ago and was willing to wait about a month for results if there were to be any. BANG!!! I noticed a difference within days. While I still felt irritable during PMS, it was much more manageable than before and I did not break down weeping over the slightest things. I was able to remain calm even during some stressful events (I drive a lot in my work, so you can imagine the stress!) and even when I had not had enough sleep I was still able to function well. This is truly a miracle to me. While I won't say I am cured, I will say that these esults are positive enough that I feel hopeful for the first time in a very long time.Another very nice effect is the difference it has made in my skin: my facial skin would get very tight and dry during PMS yet would still break out. I got the breakouts under control using manuka oil but still had dry skin - AND dry mouth. Since taking this primrose oil, I have not had the dry skin or dry mouth and in fact my skin's texture has improved, feels more elastic and looks dewy. I also use rosehip oil and argan oil on my face and have had excellent results.It did not help with cramps but perhaps as I continue to take the oil I will reap the benefits in that arena at a later date. With so many positive results, I must give Barleans Evening Primrose Oil the very highest rating; in fact, every product of theirs that I have used has been top-notch. I am a customer for life, especially of the primrose oil. Try it. It is everything it claim to be!

I purchased this product believing in the reputation of Barlean’s. I have purchased their fresh catch fish oil since it is in liquid rather than capsules and use it regularly. I did a search on some of the free import/export websites and came across several entries of Barlean’s Organic Evening Primrose and discovered several imports from China.I am referring to my lot #30-018 Exp. Jan 2020 purchased on Amazon June 13, 2017. Another poster revealed that the capsule shell contained caramel color. I can report that my lot does not have the caramel color. If your product was the caramel color, I would be concerned especially if the caramel was made in China. One of the posters had concerns about synthetic caramel being carcinogenic.Anyway, I will not take this product and return it for a refund.I will revise my 1 star rating if the product is not made in China and a product of the USA as stated on the label. It seems that Barlean’s was sent a warning letter from the FDA in June 2001 (Ref. No. SEA 0156) for various violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for selling misbranded products.“Dear Mr Barlean:We inspected your firm, located at 4936 Lake Terrell Rd, Ferndale, WA,on November 6, 7, and 9, 2000, and found that you have seriousviolations concerning the marketing of various organic seed oils andencapsulated oil products, in accordance with Sections 505, 502, and 403of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) and Title 21 of theCode of Federal Regulations (21 CFR).”Now, I am skeptical of their products.We all have heard of horrible stories of products imported from China and I would rather purchase Made in U.S.A. provided the labeling is truthful. The Product of USA is in my opinion false advertising and should be reported to the FTC if it is correct.I am sharing my right to free speech about this product that I purchased and it is in conformance with Amazon’s rules for product review.
