Directions need to be better.The planter is okay. It's nice starter. However, I quickly became frustrated after following the directions. Be it how deep to put the seed etc. Then it says to spray and keep moist.... Well that was an issue. I have it indoors. I do get sunlight which is bright and can heat up my room. My other plants live and thrive just fine. But apparently that still isn't enough to stop mold growth... Also, I had a lamp running constantly on top of it, but I had the lamp off just over night and that is when I came back to a bunch of mold.After having to deal with the mold. Via "100%" direct sunlight. I placed it out side directly and scrapped off some excess mold on the top. (If that didn't work I was going to try to spray some peroxide on it...) Finally doesn't smell and look like mold.I now do NOT water from the Top WHATSOEVER. I took the planter from the pretty woodframe, and just water from the sides. the plastic is bendable enough and i can easily get water down the side and to the bottom. It socks right up. I made some DIY planters from plastic water bottles I cut up. I got a hole with a string in the "soil" and that feeds water from water in the bottom. The plants in that grow just fine as well. (Mostly did it as a test) and it has not had any mold. So, I recommend avoid spraying this from the top. - Also, you technically can grow these seeds with no soil at all. Just FYI.Overall, It's a decent starter kit and planter, I think it's overpriced. They do give a lot of "soil" and extra seed. With better directions and knowledge this would of been a more pleasant experience.

I hate to admit it, but I ordered this so that my cats could have fresh greens. I live in the mountains, and my yard doesn't grow grass-the only "greens" my cats usually have is catnip. In the spring, we get a few volunteer grasses, but that's soon old and dry. My wheatgrass seeds sprouted in 5 days and are growing fast. I kept them in a sunny window during the day, covered loosely in plastic wrap, then put them on my dryer after the sun went down, so that they don't get cold next to the windows. I think my cats are in for a real treat in about 3 days, but you never know with cats. Sometimes you just can't do anything for them. One thing that I did wrong was I didn't read the instructions. I used both soil pods, when you're only supposed to use one. Had tons of potting soil, so placed part of it in a shallow bin outside until it dried out, so I'll have it to use for my next crop.Thanks for a very nice product that meets all my expectations!

This was a great idea. I followed the direction to the T. And my crop grew as it was supposed to. Beautiful green grass. Nice center piece.I have a large Maine Coon male cat that when ever he would try to eat the grass the whole thing would come out of the planter. Yes it had roots growing and entangled each other so when he would bite and try to pull off some tips, the whole thing would come out. Very cumbersome. That would he my only thing i didn't like about this item. But it was a big deal. Maybe if they had deeper planters and maybe no plastic liner, it might work better.

Great product and easy to use! Grew so fast and the planter is so cute! I sprayed mine a lot because it seemed to dry up real quick in the sun. Only use one soil disc each time (wasnt specified in the directions) it expands so much! I probably could have saved more soil to put on top of the seeds so make sure you cover them a little bit more than 1 cup!I'd buy again!

It's super simple and awesome to have everything included and ready to grow. I grew it to try with my guinea pigs and they love it! It's a great size and a good value!

So I actually got this for my cat. It grows really quickly, but even after using one whole packet it never got as thick as the pictures show. It didn’t last that long before dying either. Which to be fair could have been because my 18lb cat decided to lay in it... I waited for it to all die off and get dry, dug all that out and put in about 1/4 of the second pack. It’s been more than enough for him to enjoy. Both times I saw sprouts within 48 hours. So it comes and goes quickly!

The product description says it’s guaranteed to grow or they’ll work with you to fix the problem. I don’t see a way to contact this company so I’ll just write this review and hope they contact me. This wheatgrass does not grow. I’ve been growing wheatgrass for years and this is the fist time I’ve had an issue with the seeds not germinating/growing. Ironically it’s also the first time I’ve used seeds that claim to have an excellent germination/growth rate. Photo included. There is one seed that grew as intended. One. A few others are straggling. The rest — nothing is happening.The quality of the wooden planter and super thin plastic tray is pretty low — hardly what I would call “beautiful!”

We got this kit to give our cat something to nibble on - he loves it, but it is also very durable. Seeds grew SO quickly and seem to be resilient to our cats nomming. Adds a lovely fresh element to our room as well. We will definitely keep these planters full from now on. The growing format and instructions are foolproof and very neat as well. We live in a small city apartment and just set it up in our kitchen sink, then moved to our dining room table.
