When you or a loved one experience a stroke or any other medical condition that affects the day to day usage of your hands, it can be heartbreaking. Your extremities that were once dexterous and nimble may now be reduced to a painful part of your life. One side effect of strokes, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many other medical conditions is hand contracture. This Is when the hand closes up into a fist. While not painful as a single event, over time this stretches out and strains the muscles and bones of the hand and fingers. Thus, resting hand splints are a solution. They allow the hand to rest comfortably at an easy position, whilst providing some restraint against these contractures. There are many types of hand splints, and this simple splint with a ball is one of the more economical and effective versions. The foam ball provides some resistance against contracture while being comfortable and soft enough for continuous daily usage.

Great Find!
Just PERFECT!! Had been using a soft football or rolled socks for my 80yr old Fathers hand to prevent contracture after his stroke. This item is perfect for that. Keeps fingers separated and hand from closing into a fist. Its comfortable for him. The velcro straps for each individual finger is great and the wrist strap to hold in place makes it work so well . Satisfied with this purchase and happy I came across this! Just what I needed! His OT even wanted the information on where I got it to forward to some of his other patients that can benefit from it!

Not worth the money or time
I am a stroke survivor and I bought this hoping it would help with my hand being in a fistA. You can not get it on by yourselfB. It doesn’t hold your fingers like shown, I have to have someone put it on the Velcro straps that are supposed to hold your fingers not only doesn’t but it hurts to have it on not happy I thought I had struck gold oh no boy worth the price. This is just my experience I would never recommend it for stroke patients

Keeps my hand from clenching
I’ve recently begun clenching my fists while I’m sleeping. I tried several braces and splints, but they didn’t help. This did! The ball is large enough that my fingers can’t get a grip on it and squeeze it, so they are kept in a neutral position. My only hesitation to give it 5 stars is that the smaller of the two wrist straps is in an awkward place (I’m 6’ and have average hands for a guy my size) - it’s too far onto the back of my hand to lay flat but pulls in the same direction as the main strap. No matter where it is, it’s uncomfortable. If this came with some sort of instructions, I might know precisely where it’s supposed to go. But it doesn’t, so I don’t. However, when I tried one night without it, I realized I didn’t actually need it!

Mostly like it...
This works really well to keep my fingers from curling while I'm relaxing, watching tv or reading, and it's fairly easy to get on.My only real issue with it, is the middle wrist strap. It's a little too 'forward' on the device, so it digs into the side of my hand where it meets my wrist, causing irritation. I've tried going without it, but my hand if kind of small, and the wider wrist strap cannot be tightened enough to keep the device from slipping forward (causing my fingers to slide out of the finger straps), without cutting off circulation.I'm thinking of maybe replacing the stiff middle strap with a soft elastic band that will be more comfortable.

Ball Hand Splint not good for traumatic brain injury.
The media could not be loaded. So disappointed that the cute hand splint did not work for our middle child Laurie Dawn who has a traumatic brain Injury from a car wreck in 2007. I keep looking. Seems she will just need to keep using a rolled sock with two outer socks. :-( ...looking to Jesus♥ ty

The soft ball is a good idea
I bought 2 for my Son who is Hospitalized. He is 6’ 240 lbs these were to small for him .I kept them and made some modifications. They worked well on his hands. I just wish that the finger straps were made with softer Velcro straps also, the strap that went over the hand.
