Product Description Pokemon Gold and Silver is going to be the top-selling game on the Game Boy Color system, regardless of what this review says. Pokemon is not a fad, it's here to stay, and this new Game Boy Color series is only going to fuel the blaze of popularity further. desertcart.com Featuring a new adventure that's filled with numerous enhancements and innovations, this long-awaited sequel to Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow greatly improves upon the series' winning formula, and makes for an even more insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience. Like Pokémon Gold--which essentially is the same story, with minor gameplay variations--Pokémon Silver casts players in the familiar role of a young Pokémon Trainer who's out to collect as many different kinds of Pokémon as possible. As in previous games, gameplay consists mostly of exploration (completing various quests in the process) and Pokémon battles, which employ a unique battle system that's like a complex twist on rock-paper-scissors. But, despite the similarities, it's quite apparent that Pokémon Silver is a whole new ball game from the start. The game is played out in real time, with the current time and day of the week (recorded by an internal clock) having a direct impact on gameplay elements, such as what Pokémon you'll find in the wild, and when certain events occur and characters appear. While there are too many new and improved features in Pokémon Silver to list here, among the highlights are 100 new Pokémon (including two new types), new evolution processes (including breeding), and a more streamlined game interface that has better-organized menus and button shortcuts. Although it's easier to progress in Pokémon Silver than in the previous games, the sheer amount of fun and game time that's involved is daunting. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better value than this one. --Joe HonPros:Insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience Time and day of week impact gameplay directly Bevy of new features and hidden secrets Improved graphics and more streamlined game interface Cons:Minor compatibility issues when using Game Link with previous versions Review: Fun, but reading the WARNING! - In my experience, all of the Pokemon games are fantastic and a lot of fun. The ony problem with the Generation 2 games (Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal)specifically is the fact that they have an internal battery that when dry, ERASES your saved data! The games at that point are always playable, you just have start a new game every time you turn it on. Now the fix for that is a simple one, replace the battery (You can find instructions for that online, just go to Google). However, if you are newcomer to the Pokemon gaming series, or someone who just dosen't want to have to repair a game they just bought I would recommend buying a different Pokemon game instead of a taking a bet that Gold, Silver, or Crystal will work to find out that the battery is dead (Which is what happened to me when I purchased this game). If you are such a person as described previously, I highly recommend Red, Blue, Yellow, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and of course SoulSilver (Which is the Nintendo DS remake of Pokemon Silver). PLEASE NOTE that some of these games have internal batteries as well, but are formatted to keep the saved data even if the battery runs dry.If you are however a diehard who will do anything to catch them all, then by all means go for it! I just want people to know what they are gettting into. I love these games and recommend them to everyone, but I also hate getting a game that can't save. In essence these games are very similiar, and getting one is kind of like getting them all, but then again its a question of preference. Hope that this was helpful! Happy gaming! Review: The true 2nd generation experience! - This is an awesome game! I got Pokemon Silver for Christmas last year & decided to buy this to go along with it. I didn't play either of them yet & I deleted their save files. But I played Gold & Silver as a kid on the way to school. (The bus had some GameBoy Colors & Advance SPs.) & I decided to buy this for my own. Now I can play this anytime anywhere! The only complaint I have with Gold & Silver however, is the fact taht it has a save battery, meaning if it dies, you lose your save file. Other than that, great game. Not one to miss.

Very Wise Purchase
This game sure is a classic, and still one of my favorite games from the Pokemon series. Not only was the game working perfectly when it arrived, but the seller also put in a new battery to make sure the saving function will last for a very long time again. This is a must for these GameBoy cartridges nowadays since by now many of the batteries in them are either dead or close to being dead. If you still have your GameBoy Color around and need an extra game for it, this game would be a wise purchase. Just be sure if the battery inside it is dead or not, if it is dead, replacing it isn't too difficult.

$86 for non-working product!
Save files don't work, so have to start the game from beginning over and over again. Recommend purchasing from local retro game stores, or also ordering a pack of save batteries and finding a friend who is good at soldering electronics. If you order the right pack of batteries, they'll come with the proper but to get the screw off a legitimate game cartridge to access the chip and battery. Still, one of the only ways to get these nostalgia trips and overall don't regret the purchase. Price should definitely better reflect the actual state of the product, as this cartridge with a non-functional save battery was misrepresented in the product description, and was really only worth $45-$50. Note to potential buyers: purchase if you can accept the risk that the seller has potentially lied, or failed to properly check the product before selling.

GAME BOY Color Pokémon Cartridge - Collectors version.
I paid top price for this original GAME BOY Color Pokémon Cartridge $273.27. This is game that is no longer manufactured, and made only for the GAME BOY Color unit. The game cartridge has a battery in the unit, that maintains the memory for the games history. after about 10 years in use or not the battery needs to be replaced. Replacing the battery requires special screwdriver and battery available thru AMAZON.COM, costing about 6-10 dollars. depending on what models you choose. the replacement procedure is easy, and requires a soldering iron, solder sucker. This game was purchased as a Birthday Gift for our daughter, 13 Years of age. I would have no problem recommending this to anyone else who might have the early game as there are many cartridges available at reasonable prices under 20 or 30 dollars. We purchased the gold collectors cartridge as it is just that a collectors item.

Game does not save
The game is in great shape but the problem is the game doesn't work. I'm able to play it but I'm not able to save it. So I basically just had to buy a whole new battery kit the screwdriver to remove the backing and a soldering kit just so I can actually play this game. If I knew the game wasn't going to save I would have gotten the product

One of the best games from the best game series ever.
This is a great game and it's an addictive RPG. The trio its in (Gold, Silver, and Crystal) are often thought to be the best Pokemon games, pre-HGSS at least. I can't agree on that, but they're still fantastic. I can't think of a single bad thing about this game, though it may be odd if you're used to the newer titles. You can only play as Ethan. So if you're used to the gender option, too bad. That wasn't implemented until Crystal, the next game. There isn't much of a difference between Gold and Silver. It mainly depends on what Pokemon you want, and whether you want Lugia or Ho-Oh on your cart and title screen. Gold's exclusive Pokemon are: Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Spinarak, Ariados, Gligar, Mantine. Silver's are: Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Ledyba, Ledian, Delibird, Skarmory If you have a GB, GBC, or GBA I recommend buying anyone of the GSC games.
