Connected to All Sport 5000 scoreboard controller
Worked great; I used to connect a PC to a Daktronics All Sport 5000 controller. I had to grind off the female connectors because the controller already had female connectors but otherwise worked perfect!

Easy install, and it works
Installation using the driver disk on a Windows 10 machine was as easy as 1-2-3. The software installs a virtual COM port that's accessible via the USB port. I connected a 25-year old serial device and it worked flawlessly.

22429 USB Serial Cable only comes in Grey color and doesnt work with OEM Serial UART Drivers...
This Amazon listing pic shows a *Blue" outer case Cables-To-Go (C2G) 16899 USB-A to a DB25M Connector Serial Cable. However, the 22429 cable listed in the Title/description only comes in Grey color. The listing's pic colors do not match the actual shipped product color. The 16899 and 22429 only differ in casing color, but the internal hardware contents are apparently the same. IMHO, the pic needs to be changed to show that actual item that ships...The Cables-to-Go OEM manufacturer does not disclose in their Amazon listing or their OEM website these USB serial data cables will only work with Serial device drivers that are pre-installed only with Microsoft Windows Setup or Microsoft Windows Update software. The C2G website's 22429 and 16899 spec sheet (16898-99.pdf ) found in the website's Tech Support section only briefly mentions this USB Serial Cable cable should not be used with any HP All-In-One printers/scanners/fax machines.Older 3rd party or OEM Serial Drivers that use Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter chipsets (UART) communications or use Custom programming based on Hardware IRQs can't use these USB cables because UART programming and IRQs are not understood by the USB converter hardware...IMHO, C2G needs to update their 22429 and 16898-899 website product summaries to better describe how these USB cables really work so that customers like me don't have to dig to find hidden spec sheets on their website for info that should be readily available!

You probably can use this unless you have or unless you order an additional cable.
The photo shows the problem but the description implies something different. The DB25 connector studs are not removable and this means that you can't just plug it into the serial port (DB25 female) directly. You must also purchase another cable that is the "go-between" this product's DB25 and whatever you were planning on using this for. Unless you have a non-standard DTE device, a standard device is expecting you to plug in a male DB25 male and to tighten the two side screws to hold it in place. This product, instead, had two female "nuts" and so will not mate directly to the DTE. And, since these female "nuts" on this male DB25 are not removable, you MUST buy another cable with a female DB25 on one end and a male DB25 on the other. In theory, another solution is to use an adapter but there is no reason to manufacture an adapter that doesn't "change" anything except for the "nuts" and screws. The bottom line is to carefully check the DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) you plan on connecting to this DB25. See if those female-threaded "nuts" that extend on either side of this connector shell will not conflict with the existing 1/4"-long hardware on the DTE that you're plugging this into. Removing the "nuts" in the photo would help but I couldn't get them out because you'd have to break open the connector to grip the opposite end for torque. This whole frustration could be avoided if the Amazon product description would include the same instruction that the installation notes emphasize. Unfortunately, the Amazon description omits the critical need for the additional cable."Just connect your computer's or hub's USB port with a digital camera, modem, ISDN-TA modem, barcode reader, Palm III and V, tablet, label writer, fingerprint verification, security system, POS equipment or any of your favorite serial devices."This IS NOT possible. As the installation instructions mention AFTER you have the product and are wanting to install it, YOU MUST HAVE AN ADDITIONAL CABLE between this device and your serial device. You CANNOT do what it states: "Just connect your computer's or hub's USB... favorite serial devices." Generally, yes, IF you just happen to have a double-ended DB25 cable with a female on one end and a male on the other. Do you? I didn't so I'll have to order one and wait another delivery cycle. This is the reason for the 3-star rating. So, hopefully I have helped you to head-up this issue and have both items when you're ready to use this product as delivered.

NOT COMPATABLE WITH LINUX
I need this to run a radio packet system and the HAM radio software I'm using needs to access a COM1 serial port. I saw another reviewer used it with a Kantronics KPC-3+ Radio Modem/TNC, so I bought It. Finally went to hook it up to my Acer laptop running Ubuntu Linux and the thing wouldn't work. I went to the C2G site and only there do they say it is not compatible. I was able to return it. C2G is a good firm and I've used their products for years. This disappointment would have been prevented if they were forthcoming on the product page.

Awesome Old Tech for new Tech Laptop or Desktop
Works no problems. Win 7 Pro loads driver plug n play. Creates full LPT & COM Drivers for whatever comm device needed whether printer or modem or other. Great addition to keep using old tech with the new Laptops and Desktops and Slates.
