These look great. I had two matching pairs of boring grey joycons. Now one pair is a grey transparent with colourful buttons! Installation was tricky (which I kind of enjoy - working on small electronics is satisfying for some people!). I broke one joycon while installing - I think I must have shorted out the main board on it. Take your time installing! The right controller is much more complicated than the left, so maybe start with the left and figure out what you're doing then go to the right one. Fortunately a replacement joycon was inexpensive on ebay and on my second try they both seem to work great. Installation was not a fault of this product, they supply replacements for all of the screws and springs, as well as good quality (especially for the price) screwdriver and bits for the job. Would do this again! Would just be a little more careful the first time! Thanks !

The Shells replacement from eXtremeRate are the best shell replacements in the market, the offer some options for the aesthetic of the control, some buttons to be replaced with a different color or like in the joycons, changing the awful left joycon individual butons for the D-pad, to a real D-pad, you have different color options as well, transpared or solid colors, the build quality is really good, the plastic is firm and solid, is not cheap plastic like other options.

I've modded my 3DS and GBA SP, as well as various controllers and the right joycon is one of the more difficult swaps I've done. If you are patient and gentle and follow a video guide you should be fine. Just a few things of note: There are about 6 tiny and fragile ribbon cables with tiny clips on each joycon. They all detach and reattach differently, which is why I reccomend a video (or take a video/pictures of how and how far the cables go in before they are clipped in place. Some have bumps to indicate, others do not. I had two I thought were in place pop out as I went on to the next step. Again, why I reccomend a video over a quick guide with some pictures. The rz and lz require a little force to remove from the old piece so I held my breath a little there. Other than that it wasn't too bad and the left joycon is much easier than the right so maybe do that first to get an idea of what's to come with the right one. Only weird thing was there are these 4 screws that form a square and 2 screws are short and 2 are long, so don't mix those up. Overall looks great and feels as good as the priginal buttons, but the D-Pad feels amazing compared to the original 4 button setup. I ended up using all the original screws but it comes with everything you need (even springs) as far as I can tell.

Super easy to change shells if you’ve had your fair share of joystick swaps. The only gripe I might have is how it seems to always be just one of the four outer screw posts that bends or cracks after a while. The material can be softer/ fragile in comparison to the actual switch shells, but other than that, there was no mess with packaging, or the bright neon green color.

Shells are a nostalgic color and came with 2 different D-pads, one in black and one matching the shell color. There are tons of guides available online. The best one I would recommend is the "NintenDIY" tutorial from CptnAlex. It's fast, simple, and gets the job done for both experienced tinkerers as well as beginners. It has been about 3 months since installing these and have zero issues. They perform just fine. To make the installation process easier, go into your Switch settings, go to controller input, and test ALL the button inputs before screwing the back onto the front. One of the more annoying things I forgot was the '-' button. It felt mushy and difficult to press, that's because the grey membrane wasn't situated correctly. Also don't forget those black dust protectors around the joystick. Those are easy to miss. Overall solid product. Can always rely on Extremerate for customization, however. I RECOMMEND you purchase your own screwdrivers. The two they send you are not that great, and you really don't want to strip any screws. Good Luck!

I'll never understand why Nintendo came up with the red and blue joycons. Although enjoyable for some.... for me these colors were such an eyesore! Yes, I know the OLED also has white joycons but they were equally too much for me. Luckily these casings make my Nintendo Switch much more enjoyable to look at. Really makes my playing experience much more enjoyable to look at. Everything looks, feels & sounds exactly as expected. Installation was not easy. This was my first time installing/disassembling joycons and took A LOT of patience to get everything right. I watched a YouTube video for help on this. There are A LOT of tiny pieces and screws so keep this mind when purchasing. Although following directions, I accidentally took off a piece of metal and plastic and it took FOREVER to put back on. This is my fault... not the manufacturers fault. Projects like these come with risks!! Do not blame the manufacturer for the level of difficulty that this may be. With that said, I was satisfied with my purchase and all the things that it came with. Worth the money!!

Make sure you have some pointy tweezers and some flush/sprue cutters to make things a little easier. Everything came out great. My only critique is with the video. There were a couple of issues. One was addressed by the company on their website (be sure to pay attention to that). The issue was that in the original video they installed the cable upside down. The other issue was that they didn’t swap over the dust cover thing (for the joystick) on the first controller, so I didn’t think I was supposed to, but then they did it on the next controller. This was when I checked out someone else’s video to see if they kept the dust cover. They did. So I went back and disassembled and reassembled the first controller all over again to swap the dust cover. The parts seem great and everything turned out fine. It takes some time and patience, but it was worth it. I bought both the green and purple sets so I could have one controller of each color.

Update. I have had these installed for a few week. When I bought them I combed the good and bad reviews and I personally chalked a lot of the listed shell cracks due to over tightening screws. Well I was very careful to avoid overtightening, yet after a few weeks of use the pressure from my left joystick hitting the shell seems to have caused a stress fracture. So though these look amazing they may not be the best for hard core gamers. I need to start out by saying I coupled this product with Extreme Rate colored buttons, qnd aftermarket joysticks as I was having left stick failure anyways. Install over all is tough, and takes a lot of patience. But between the 3 kits I had many tools that made the install go much better. Take your time with the ribbons and its not too bad. I will say the buttons fit the shell perfectly, the shells fit all controller components well, and the shell parts all snapped together tight with no gaps before screwing together. I will say nothing on the manufacturers end made install harder. This kit (clear) included a button set (4x arrows, and A,B,X,Y) L, R, ZL, ZR, and A D pad. It also included a black D pad, which after some messing around, I honestly preferred the contrast. It included metal controller latches which I didn't bother installing. I the 4x rs, ls buttons are also included which I found odd as you really don't see them, short of when moving the joycon to qnd from the switch? I put these in for the grins of it. Nice touch I suppose. The +, -, Home, latch release, and screen cap buttons were not included and the original have to be used. I think the 4 buttons on the face would have been better use of the mold over the rs, ls buttons, but it looks phenomenal regardless. I'll be buying more shells as I find more joycons to doctor up. And these ones are top notch.

Cette coque est parfaite pour les joy-cons. Les miens étaient tout blanc et se salissaient très facilement. Mais grâce à ExtremeRate non seulement ils sont devenus transparents mais super agréable à prendre en mains. Dans la boîte, on retrouve deux tournevis un pour les vis externes et l'autre pour les vis internes. Il y a même des ressort de rechange pour les gâchettes ainsi que deux types de D-Pad, un en tout noir et l'autre au coloris de la coque choisie. Le tout est très bien emballé. Je recommande vivement.

At first I was anxious to order, I thought it will be another nightmare on shipping. But I bit the dust anyways, the shipping went well, with tracking also from Aramex. The shell looks very good and fits very well as if it was the original. Never regret buying this ExtremeRate shell, I will be buying the Atomic Purple next time for nostalgia on the Gameboy Color. The D pad is very good addition also, it has the feel that of the XBOX one controller. The extra screws, springs are very good to have as well when u find yourself losing the originals. Note: Do not over tight the screws as they will be very visible on transparent shell.
