We use this every time we need to patch the plaster in our pool. Its super easy to use and hold up well. Work in small sections because this stuff does dry up fast!!!! We use a sponge to smooth which is recommended and works great! Either wear gloves or dont wear rings because your skin will get stained from the water bucket you use for the sponge! There are different "colors" so just be careful. Unfortunately one year we got white and the next year it was almost blueish tint so it looks a little odd!

First- time user: we had several areas of worn-off plaster all over pool. Drained day before since this is a dry application. husband and I used a creamy peanut butter consistency since we were working in 90 degree weather. Even that dried out really fast. Added water when needed and stirred well. Made 1 batch at a time and worked quickly. You need to patch well past the margins of delamination. A large putty knife is necessary to smooth out... even small areas. Sponge didn't work that well for us (inexperience?). After it cured for an hour or so in hot sun, we used a hand-held disc sander to smooth... carefully. That worked for us. Cured for 4 hrs. Directions didn't say... we guessed. You could see where we patched if you looked closely. Pool is almost full now. Can't see repairs at all through the water. Wonderful!! Looks new. I figure we'll need to do more in a couple of years. Pool is @20 years old. Wear and tear happens. Feel confident that even as 70+ years old, we can do it again. An overcast - but not rainy- day would have been ideal... We drank LOTS of iced tea.

Works great, but very high priced! OUCH! Wish it came in much larger size, 10-100x more. I used this about 20 years ago to repair a 1 ft blemish in my pool where the pool builder finished and then skipped out with the final $150 due. The rest of the pool was fine, so I purchased this, repaired the hole near the drain and it's held fine and been completely unnoticeable for over 20 years. Can't recommend this enough, except the price! Please stop gouging us poor pool owners!

I looked at previous reviews before I bought this. I saw that one person advised using a scale to weigh out the product and binder. I got an inexpensive scale on Amazon to weigh each batch and they all came out perfectly. (Now my wife uses the scale in the kitchen, but that is another review.) I'm not an experienced plasterer but I got totally acceptable results with this product. I recommend this product.

Visit poolpatch.com before you buy. There are no instructions for adding water. This is a gritty mess. I'm beyond disappointed that Amazon continues to carry this. It says work to a putty consistency. It doesn't become that. It's like sanded grout. You're better off going outside and lighting $100 bill on fire. At least you wouldn't need to lose an entire day of your life and then need to pressure wash your pool again. Amazon seriously needs to pull this product. The vendor is selling sand in a jar and calling it plaster.

used a bottle to patch a few bad places in my gunite pool. was pretty easy to mix and put in place using a trowel

It mixed easily. Which enabled us to mix in smaller batches so it didn’t set up on us. It dried well and covered well. We used epoxy paint over it. We like the outcome. Before and after images included.

The texture is very coarse, and this really affects the workability. It tends to roll up and fall into the pool as you spread it, and it's extremely difficult to work into small spaces. Also, the minimum amount they tell you to mix (1½ lb. plaster and 2 oz. fortifier) proved to be more than I could apply before it started setting up. I don't know how durable it is yet, but if the ease with which I was able to sand it is any indication, I'm not too hopeful. Next time I'll probably make my own (it isn't hard) and use the rest of this for something where texture and workability aren't important.
