Can this projector be used to get down to sizes 9" X 12" canvas or square shape canvases like 10"x10"?

It can... But it does not have a focus knob so you'll need to physically move the projector around the room to get the correct sizing... I would caution you that the lumens on this projector are very low.  You will only be able to use this in a dark room.  Before you make the decision to purchase this do you're research on your space and the light you have in your space because that all effects how many lumens you'll need.  I found that I had to pick this up move it around to get my size because it can't focus at all so you'll need to walk around to get the clarity the size and of course you'll also need to do this in a dark room due to the extremely low lumen value.  After reading they're reviews and how "easy" this was with the grids and the perspective options.. Only certain things works depending on what input you're using... (i.e. usb vs directly connected to your computer and of course my favorite Wi-Fi Bluetooth ... Which it doesn't tell you it doesn't have the  correct connection ports for an Android phone) but either way I was extremely disappointed and in good conscience I cannot recommend this at all!!  There are other projectors out there with much highest lumens and offers perspective adjustments and have auto focus rings to adjust so your not walking all around a room trying to find the sweet spot to get a clear image on your canvas.
