CBPR is all about putting the power back in the people's hands and this book certainly furthers that tradition. As well as I can remember most, if not all, of the readings included in this book were written by teams of academics and community partners.Have you ever read a study and nearly died because you wanted to see a copy of the survey used, but couldn't find it anywhere on the internet? Look no further. The appendices of this book are filled with survey, community checklists, field note guide, and examples of process and intervention evaluation questions.Full disclosure: I had the honor of reading this book while studying under Drs. Israel and Schulz so I'm a little biased...

Got this for a class before even really understanding the difference between community-based research and community-based participatory research. This lays out the significance, theoretical backing, and actual practices of this research. The authors are highly regarded in the CBPR world, and offer a valuable perspective for making real, sustained gains in health. Very good for any activists interested in how to translate their work to research or just to work with researchers.
