Exceptional High Quality / The BEST of Bread [ 1960's-70s Soft Rock ] Classics

Good product

well, I can’t really review this because I just got it and I haven’t listened to it yet, but it is one of my favorite albums and got here the next day so as long as it plays fine then I’m good to go.

I LOVE THIS CD, SO MANY MEMORIES. GREAT MUSIC, AMAZING HOW MUSIC LIKE THIS DOESN'T REACH TODAYS YOUNG ADULTS. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PRICE, SHIPPING FREE, AND A GREAT C.D.

First of all, this is a fantastic compilation of Bread's early hits; and the fact it's a multi-platinum compilation proves that. I'm not really here to talk about the album in general; we know how good it is. No, I'm here to talk about this release specifically. I've heard three main releases of this over the years, the original LP, the first CD issue, and the 2001 remaster. To me, the thing always had a slight quality of "radio-ready" to it; it sounded like the album had been compressed and limited already. It still sounded fine, and I always somewhat assumed that was just part of their sound. Having gotten back on to the SACD boat after finding out it didn't completely sink; it was only natural I grab this iconic collection. This release blows every other release out of it's respective player; my first instinct was to think I was listening to the original master. The clarity is far beyond what I've heard before, which often borderlined being too bright. The mix sounded more natural and full of life; the bass was richer and the high end was just perfectly balanced, resulting in a nicer sound stage. The dynamic range sounded much less stressed and more true to the original mix. I'm not going to say this is a collection of recordings that set out to be an audiophile spectacular; it is very much a product of mixing of the era. But with this release, that's all you hear; and in great detail. Hoffman's mastering of the original stereo mix is fantastic, as it should be; I seem to recall reading about his method and he takes almost every detail in to consideration. I'm not set-up for quad, so I can't listen to the 4.0 mix; but I would imagine it has to be of a similar quality. Both were taken from original masters.

Musik ausgezeichnet!
