A Solid Plant-Based Option That Doesn’t Smell Like a Pond
I’ve taking Sports Research Vegan Omega 3-6-7-9 softgels (1200 mg, 90 veggie capsules) for three months, trying to keep my heart and skin from staging a revolt without resorting to fish oil’s mid-day burp ambush. This multi-spectrum blend—sourced from flaxseed, sea buckthorn, borage, olive, pomegranate seed, and sacha inchi oils—delivers all four major omegas in a single capsule, no marine life required. It’s Non-GMO, third-party tested, and carrageenan-free, which is nice when you’re dodging the supplement industry’s usual nonsense. Below, I break down dosage, ease of consumption, smell/taste, quality of ingredients, and value for money. Dosage: One softgel daily with a meal gives you 1200 mg of fatty acids: ~400 mg ALA (omega-3), 200 mg GLA (omega-6), 100 mg omega-7, and 500 mg omega-9. It’s not fish oil’s DHA/EPA punch, but it’s a balanced hit for plant-eaters who aren’t sprinting marathons. It covers the bases without making you feel like you’re swallowing a chemistry experiment. If you’re seriously omega-deficient, you might need something stronger, but for maintenance, it’s fine. Ease of Consumption: The veggie softgels are small enough—think oversized jellybean, not horse pill—and go down pretty easily. The Plantgel™ shell (tapioca-based) doesn’t stick or dissolve prematurely, so you’re not left gagging if it doesn't go down the hatch right away. No need to chug water or psych yourself up. Smell/Taste: No fishy aftertaste or burps that make you question your life choices—just a faint, citrusy whiff when you crack the bottle. It’s not a bouquet of roses, but it won’t haunt your Zoom calls either. Post-swallow, it’s a non-event, unlike seafood-adjacent supplements. I still do recommend taking it with food to mitigate any rogue plant vibes. Quality of Ingredients: Sports Research plays it straight—Non-GMO Project Verified, cGMP-compliant, made in the USA, with third-party testing. The six-plant blend (flax for ALA, borage for GLA, sea buckthorn for omega-7) is thoughtfully sourced, with no gluten, fillers, or sketchy additives. It’s fresh, low-oxidation, and eco-conscious enough to feel like you’re doing your body a favor without preaching. My skin’s less parched, which I’ll take as a win. Value for Money: At $25-30 for 90 softgels (three months’ worth), it’s a decent deal—cheaper than artisanal vegan omegas ($40+) but pricier than the bargain-bin junk that’s probably just canola oil in disguise. You’re paying for a full-spectrum formula that doesn’t skimp on purity, and at ~$0.30 a day, it’s less than your daily latte. It’s not life-changing, but it’s a practical way to check the omega box without breaking the bank or your dignity with fish breath. Additional Notes: Store it cool and dry to keep the oils fresh. It’s not a miracle pill—don’t expect to wake up glowing like a skincare ad—but it’s a steady player for long-term health. Conclusion: Sports Research Vegan Omega 3-6-7-9 is a reliable, no-drama supplement with a sensible dose, easy swallow, neutral taste, solid ingredients, and fair price—perfect for those of us avoiding fishy regrets. It’s a 5-star pick for keeping your body marginally less annoyed at you, without the fanfare.

This is 100% vegan and easy to swallow.
This is a great product particularly since I cannot have mammal of any kind, and fish oil is not my favorite in pill form. So, this works out great for me. Algae! Thank you for this great choice!

Nice lemon flavor.
Excellent, was pleasantly surprised that these had lemon flavor. Taste great, no fish burps, a bit expensive than what I regular use/get, so trying this out. So far so good.

Honestly Top Tier
I've been searching for a high-quality vegan omega-3 supplement to support my skin, hormone balance, and bone health — and Sports Research Vegan Omega-3 checks all the boxes. What makes this stand out is the potency. Each serving contains 1400mg of algae oil, delivering 980mg of DHA + EPA, which is rare for plant-based options. Most vegan omegas fall short on EPA (essential for anti-inflammatory support), but this formula includes both, making it ideal for those targeting hormonal breakouts, joint health, and skin clarity.Since switching to this, I’ve noticed my skin feels more hydrated, and my breakouts (especially around the jawline before my period) have started to calm down. It also gives me peace of mind knowing I’m supporting my bone health long-term--- especially since I plan to pair it with vitamin D3 + K2 and a collagen supplement.Bonus points for being:Vegan, gluten-free, non-GMONo fishy aftertaste (No Fish! Lol)Sustainably sourcedGreat Lemon Smell (I chose the Lemon Scent)If you're looking for a clean, effective, and powerful plant-based omega-3, I absolutely recommend this one.

Love smell and quality, but gave me acid reflux
I've been on a desperate hunt for fish oil ever since I realized most versions give me SEVERE acid reflux. As in, an entire day of reflux. I've tried eating before food, after food, with food, and it makes no difference. I don't know why this makes me have the strong urge to try every brand on the planet, but here we are.Unfortunately, this supplement gives me reflux like all the others. I was hoping that since it was algae, it would be different, but alas, it's the same results as their regular fish oil. The only brand I can take as of right now is Nordic Naturals fish oil (which gives me minor burps but no reflux). For people who have reflux as a result of these, maybe try that brand instead. For those who aren't struggling with reflux, these seem to be high quality and have a great amount of omega 3. I honestly loved how they smelled, so I'm bummed they didn't work for me.

It has a high EPA/DHA and it's vegan
I recently was injured and someone broke my nose, gave me a concussion, bruising etc. I asked Gemini AI to give me a list of vitamins and minerals and supplements that would help my body heal. It was a great list by the way. I started to review the list and search for vegan versions of the vitamins I needed. The biggest challenge was figuring out which were USA made and which were Chinese / China companies. I'll buy other things from China but I'm not comfortable taking vitamins from random Chinese companies for valid reasons.I found many Omega 3 supps that were vegan. So I had to read reviews and ingredients and try to figure out which was the best. There were dramatic differences. In the end I found Sports Research Vegan Omega-3, Vegan Omega 3 Supplement by Vegetology and Nordic Naturals Plant Based Ultimate Omega, Lemon Flavor - 60seemed to be among the top recommended on Reddit and had better reviews and ingredients. The EPA and DHA of Sports Research appeared to be the highest of all. If I have to swallow vitamins, I want the best available and the most powerful.I'm happy to see that Sunflower Seed Oil was removed from this product and no Carrageenan. Carrageenan. This plus the no cruelty, vegan and high EPA and DHA pushed me to buy it. I don't taste anything fishy at all. I have a slightly teeny tiny inaudible burp but it's fine. I'm going to try it for a month and see how I look and feel.
