Excellent monitor for bringing simple-to-operate TV to a treadmill
I bought this monitor together with a Peerless stand for my treadmill. I wanted to operate Windows completely by touch including login. I first configuring an older Windows 8.1 machine with pin password entry (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GedI1CjPfKg ) and then installed Windows Media Center. I just turn on the computer, login using a 4 digit PIN (windows pops up a numeric keypad on the screen) and then use the touch screen to select Media Center, select a channel, and watch TV while I exercise. It takes about a minute from boot to watching a program which I typically do during selection of the treadmill exercise program I want that day.Since the treadmill makes some noise, I wasn't too concerned with the monitor's speaker sound quality. While sound quality is admittedly less than a good sound-bar, it is fine for this application. Since the speakers are built into the monitor, there is no need to mount separate speakers which is also a plus in this application. After using the monitor in this configuration for a couple of weeks, both my wife and I love it. Picture quality is excellent and the touch screen has worked flawlessly.

Great as a windows 8 desktop Monitor
I absolutely love this monitor as a desktop monitor for Windows 8.1. I have a brain injury which causes me many eye problems, and being able to use my finger as the mouse on the screen is not only great therapy, its a practical time saver and quick and easy. the sound is good, the tactile is excellent, and setting up was so easy. There are three cords. One is the monitor cable, then you have to hook up the USB cable (enabling the touch screen), and finally connect the audio. Make sure you adjust your settings in Control Settings->Sound to enable the monitor as preferred device. Colors are vibrant, and refresh rate is sharp and clearCons: as pointed out, the right edge has issues reading the windows edge, but others have already provided a workaround.Don't place anything between you and the monitor, such as desk decor, pen holders. Do not put sticky notes on the screen edge so that any edge causes a shadow on the screen. The touch screen is quite sensitive to close objects and will act erratically or inconsistently if you have clutter in the viewing area.

"Plug-in and Play is the key"
Well what can I say that other customers have not made mention of this product? It's a very economical touch screen monitor, considering that others are between $400 and $600 for just a functionality. Bigger screen? Possibly, but if all that is required is the ability to manipulate objects with your own fingertips rather than a mouse whose left mouse button can get worn out. It has some accuracy issues with more finite objects on screen such as the "X" button on tabs for internet browsers, but overall it's a more economical purchase. My only central annoyance of the product is that it cannot tilt far enough to allow one to, somehow, manipulate the screen as if one used a tablet. I have yet attempted to see if the touch screen is usable with a stylus or not, but I'm sure a few of you have done so.Oh! Before I forget, there's a strange little quirk that I had noticed when I had used the touch screen recently. Apparently one does not need to physically touch the screen in order to register the touch as a mouse click. Just hover above the screen, but that's not exactly the most natural of positions so what have you. When I had first received the product and downloaded all the necessary programs, the touch screen did not respond to my actions. It was infuriating and I went to ViewSonic technical support, Microsoft Community because my computer was upgraded to Windows 10 months ago, attempted to find the correct drivers, even voted on said Microsoft Community that the touch screen monitor was not compatible with Windows 10, then I got worried that I got the incorrect product since one of the directions warned about fingerprints on the monitor being difficult to remove. Why put such a warning on a touch screen device? Was it not meant to be touched? Then after nine hours of such frustration, I kid you not, I received an E-mail reply from one Aljhon of ViewSonic Support and there was a statement at the end of that message that went "Installing monitor is not required or necessary. It will work as plug and play device." After a few moments of updating all possible drivers through the Device Manager, I thought what would happen if I unplugged the USB cable from the PC while connected to the internet. So I tried so and not only did Windows 10 recognize it as a touch screen monitor, it also automatically downloaded the necessary drivers to operate properly. As you can imagine, I was filled with joy that I finally gotten the touch screen monitor to actually work on Windows 10 and annoyance that I did not think of trying such an action in the first place. The directions for installing the device instructed that I plugged the USB into the PC before I began software installation from the included disk, it did not make any mention of unplugging and replugging the USB cable back into the PC with an active internet connection. So a bit of advise for those who choose to purchase this product: Once you've installed all the programs on the disk, make sure that you have an active internet connection and replug the USB cable back into the PC. Don't be like me and go for nine hours of frustration. It's much more simpler that way.

Great touchscreen for Windows 7 and okay for Windows 8 with limitations
First of all, my primary system is a Windows 7 system, and my "play" system is Windows 8, so it will be clear that I'm not committed to the Win 8 platform as yet. I should note that I use the same monitor on both via a keyboard monitor switch, so have used it with both OS's. On Windows 7 set up for touchscreen and single click, monitor rocks. Very clear display, just about right for desktop size-wize, and price was MUCH better than its capacitive touch counterparts. Frequently used program shortcuts are on desktop or taskbar, and touch launches them just as well as it launches Win 8 Start Screen items. Of course, there are some limitations in Win 8 as noted by numerous other reviewers with regard to the edge and corner activated functions. Personally, I view this as more of a Win 8 design issue than a monitor issue, but it is for sure an issue. Based on my experience to date, if you just have to have Win 8 with a fully functional Win 8 touchscreen, just add the cost of a Win 8 designed monitor to the cost of your upgrade. Would I personally buy this monitor again today? In a heartbeat!

Just OK.
This monitor works well with my my windows 8. The image quality was very nice. However, I am disappointed with the raised edges of the monitor frame. Can't use all the neat windows 8 edge-gestures. I thought about returning the monitor but found that using the touch screen from my desk was also not that desirable. The monitor is quite big so raising your arm up to touch the screen got tiring after a while. Now, I only use the touch screen occasionally and find it useful. If you need a touch intensive monitor, look for another monitor with flat edges.
