A Great Gardall Wall Safe
I first purchased a much less expensive safe that didn't work. When I initiated a return, the distributor didn't want it back, told me to discard, and refunded the money. So I was more cautious and wanted to find a more sturdy safe. This is a well constructed, heavy duty wall safe. The exterior and interior appears to have a powder coated paint. I probably spent much more time on deciding where to install the safe than doing the actual installation. Installation took me approximately 1 hour and is quite intuitive. There are 4 holes accessible from the interior. Once you access the interior and mount the safe in the space that you cut between studs, you can mark and quickly drill guide holes into the adjacent studs. I used sturdy lag bolts and a socket wrench to drive the bolts into the stud. The two bolt holes on the left are easily accessible from the interior. The two holes on the hinge side require using a extension on the socket set to get the bolts screwed in place otherwise driving the hinge side bolts is much more difficult. The instructions for changing the electronic access code are very clear. Since the batteries that run the electronics etc are in the interior, I was worried about the batteries going dead. Well no problem. The manufacturer provides a battery pack and an exterior connector that allows you to activate the electronic mechanism, so that you have access and can replace the battery if you don't have a routine maintenance schedule to preclude such problems. Finally, it is nice having both a key and electronic key pad combination. The combination works easily but gives you a secure wall safe.

Great secure little wall safe
The safe is better than could be expected. Very secure! Only downgrading the review due to a chip in the powder coating of the door that appears to have been touched up with an entirely different paint color. Bummed to have spent that and have it blemished. Other than that it truly is a great safe.

Well built and easily installed, but the key pad failed in less than two years.
Solid, three bolt wall safe that requires both a key and code to open. Installation takes less than an hour and fits snugly between studs set on 16" centers. Just locate, measure and remove sheetrock, set the safe in the hole, drill pilot holes, and lag screw in place. Install the batteries and set your new code to complete the installation. Key pad is not durable and failed in less than two years.

Very sturdy
This safe is very heavy duty. It is solid, sturdy, and would be very difficult if not impossible to pry. You would have to cut it out of the wall studs and all. The code works and is easy to change. Requiring key and code is really nice feature. One bonus I didn’t know the entire thing is magnetic inside and out so you can hang items to maximize space. You can also easily remove the interior ledge/shelf it lifts out and I have photos showing it in and out.As for install I have 16” on center wood studs so I ended up shimming one stud with 2” x 10” x 1/2” plywood and that gave me a snug fit. Without the shim there was about 3/4” gap between the safe and the studs.I used 4 (four) 5/16” x 2” hex wood screws with 1.5” washers to allow me to really torque the screws into the studs and disperse the pressure. I would def go heavy duty on the fasteners like I did. Hex head allowed me to use a socket wrench so that’s critical because you don’t have much space for a drill and screw driver you would never get into the studs without perfect pilot holes. I marked and drilled pilot holes then socket.Agree with everyone’s comments installation on the hinged side is tough and slow going with a socket - you also need a 2” extender. But stay patient and keep cranking it will work.Overall very very happy with this. I included photos of the cuts to show you don’t have to be perfect when cutting I used a hand saw and box cutter. The exterior lip is an inch on all sides so it will hide the ugly hole as long as you don’t really screw it up!I added a SingHong motion activated LED - USB rechargeable multi colored magnetic light to it which is awesome. It has a built in magnet so I just stuck it to the roof of the safe. You can get the light on Amazon for like 25$ for 2. Nice addition.

It's a real safe, very well built. One ...
It's a real safe, very well built. One issue though ... I don't believe the keypad sound can be turned off.

You Get What You Pay For
The Gardall wall safe is more expensive than other offered on the market, but it is a beast! This thing is well made, heavy gauge steel, strong hinge points internal to the safe, strong deadbolt mechanism, and the double security of both and electronic code and a key needed to open it. Installation was easy, if you have the right tools to get into the tight space on the hinge side of the door. Operation is reliable and the external battery pack connection point for access when the internal batteries quit working is genius. I am very pleased with this purchase and believe the extra cost was well worth the value received.

Great value for the price
I was specifically looking for a wall safe that didn't require a code to open it, as I can barely remember any PIN as it is. This safe is sturdy and fantastic. My handyman installed it according to instructions.....one note, he bought heavy duty bolts from the local hardware store instead of the ones that were provided with the safe...if anyone wants to steal this safe, they will have to cut a chunk out of my wall and hopefully someone will notice the noise. Great value for the money and it arrived within 4 days! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stash a few valuables away.

It fit easily between wall studs
Solid safe, came undamaged and well packaged. It fit easily between wall studs. I used 3/8" lag bolts/washers to attach to the wall. The color is a very nice light gray, not tan as indicated in the description
