Size Name:4-(Pack) The Rockwood 627.CRM brass door viewer has a 190-degree viewing range, a heavy-duty privacy cover, and a bright chrome finish. A heavy-duty privacy cover covers the inside of the viewer to prevent visibility from the outside to the inside. The viewer meets American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A156.16 specifications and is UL fire rated for up to 1-1/2 hours. It can be installed in a 9/16" diameter hole in doors 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" thick. Door viewers, also called peepholes, consist of a lens and cylinder which is inserted into a door, allowing a view outside. The amount of visibility is determined by the degree of the lens; the higher the number, the greater the visibility. Door viewers are sometimes incorporated with door knockers. Rockwood Manufacturing Company manufactures door hardware. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Rockwood, PA.

Just what I wanted
This is the one I had been looking for. It took me more time to get my drill, find the right bits, and plug in the drill than it took to install it. I drilled a small hole through the door to start with and then used the larger bit from both sides to finish the hole. Screwed the two pieces together through the door and tightened them, and was done. I like little jobs like this! Very little effort for such a great reward. The cover over the hole was important to me because the living room faces due east, and the door is just to my left when I'm sitting in my recliner. I didn't want the bright sun coming in through a hole and distracting my vision while I was reading the paper or watching the news.

It would be nice if they used a more common size of 1/2 ...
I was surprised at the quality. It appears very solid, and nicer finish than that represented in photo. There is also a UL sticker on it stating "FIRE DOOR VIEWER R27784 LISTED" on the barrel. This is for a new door without a view; so I need to buy a new drill bit, as 9/16 inch is not a normal size in drill bit kits. I see these in the hardware store, and at amazon, for about $17. It would be nice if they used a more common size of 1/2 inch, however I guess this is a standard size for these viewers and a 1/2 inch size viewer wouldn't fit if you are replacing an existing viewer.

Great Viewing
My handyman put this in without any issues. I love that it has a disk on the inside so no one can look into the peephole. And the lens gives a nice panoramic view of my front walkway. Great product that works great.

Cheap, effective, and easy to install
I have an exterior door that leads right into my bedroom. Odd I know, but thats how things work out sometimes. In any case, the morning light coming through the peephole was actually enough to wake me up. I tried just leaving black electrical tape covering the hole, but it looked terrible and left a sticky residue. This product installed in less than 2 minutes without tools. The cover keeps the light out, and looks nice too. My only complaint is that the cover spins freely. It would be nice to be able to lift it out of the way and have it stay put until I want to cover the peephole again.

Excellent
Easy to install. I had to widen the original peep hole opening with a drill bit, but that is a piece of cake. Took about 4 minutes to remove the old peephole, widen the opening, and then install the new one. Make sure that you pay attention so that the cover closes correctly (ie actually covers the hole). If you hang it wrong, the disc won't do what it is designed to do.

Great looking door viewer/peephole
Great looking door viewer/peephole. Fairly easy to install, I recommend ensuring correct placement before installing. Also recommend using a smaller drill bit to create a pilot hole before charging in with the large bit. Some doors have various items inside them that come out unexpectedly when using the large drill bit.

The Perfect Solution for Privacy.
So glad I purchased it. I check my local hardward stores which only carried the regular view peepholes, without the privacy cover. Very impressed with the quality construction and finish. An easy install since the hole was already drilled from the previous peephole. Looking inward from the outside, the opening is so tiny (less than .5mm when the cover is opened), unlike our previous peephole which allowed people to see full silhouettes and provided NO privacy. Very affordable. Probably one of my top 5 favorite purchases from Amazon.

Best [secure] Door Viewer around!
This is simply the best peephole I could find and for a great price! I've heard of burgers using a reverse peephole viewer (they actually exist) to look directly into your home! This solves that AND the fact of people being able to see when you're walking up to the door. For other reviewers saying that the cover falls - make sure that the screw that holds the slip cover is on the top; it'll fall perfectly into place every time. With 180 degree viewing angle you can see to our doorstep and on all angles as someone who walks up. Additionally, the cover is actually "heavy duty" as described - if you're reading this you're probably on the fence about this - just buy it you'll be glad you did and probably won't find a better deal anywhere else (I haven't seen this product in any big-box stores, etc.)Pro Tip: I put a VERY small bead of silicone around the exterior of the hole I drilled to keep out any draft and make it harder to remove.Hope this helps!
