Compact, reliable, and a total lifesaver on the go
This little dude is super compact, does exactly what it says, and is perfect for scanning documents or receipts for your records. I’ve been juggling a ton of legal and medical paperwork while traveling constantly, and this thing has made it so much easier. Honestly, it’s better than the big, clunky all-in-one printer/scanners back at my office. The Brother software is surprisingly decent too—clean interface, no fuss. And unlike the compact Epson scanners I’ve tried, this one actually works. It’s earned a permanent spot on my desk at home.

The portable scanner
The portable scanner is a great tool for professionals who need to digitize documents quickly while away from the office. Its lightweight and compact design makes it a convenient companion for work on the go.An excellent choice for students, remote workers, and mobile professionals who need a quick and practical way to digitize paperwork. While not a replacement for a high-volume office scanner, it performs very well for portable scanning needs

Very glad I made this purchase
I'd been searching for a scanner for a while before I found this one. I actually purchased something similar, but I returned it for various reasons. I hoped I wouldn't have the same issues with this scanner and I can honestly say I'm not disappointed. I use this scanner regularly and I would recommend this purchase to anyone wanting to scan paperwork, receipts, etc. I'll try to cover my experience from the beginning as well as I can, but I've been using the scanner for a couple months now so I may miss a couple parts of the of the setup process.1) The product is very lightweight and easy to use.2) I remember the software being easy to download and install. I was not required to register my product, provide my personal details and agree to any policy for tracking my usage and data (this is why I returned the previous scanner). There are a couple of additional downloads available during the setup process. I only remember one, which is called Kofax. This is just a free trial so if you already have a program for PDFs, it's not necessary to install this.3) For me personally, the online user manual on the Brother website wasn't the most intuitive. That doesn't mean it will definitely be difficult to understand, this was just how it seemed to me. I wound up looking a few things up on Google to get started.4) After plugging the scanner into the computer, the "iPrint & Scan" program will have to be opened and you'll click "Scan" for every page. If the scanner does automatically feed the pages, I haven't figured out how to do it. Otherwise, you're scanning one page at a time, but it scans very quickly.5) You'll need to select the paper size before each scan, so I usually batch what I'm scanning so that I don't have to keep changing the size (ex, scan all receipts at once using Long/Narrow paper size)6) If you're scanning something such as a packet of papers like an apartment lease agreement, there's an option to "Add Pages" so that you can save the whole agreement as a PDF instead of just single pages.CON FOR ADDING PAGES: You're not able to change the paper size. If you're scanning a packet of papers that are a mixture f Legal and Letter, you'll want to choose Legal for all pages because you can't change the paper size with the "Add Pages" function. This can cause some pages to be slightly different in size when saving as PDF, but this has yet to really affect any of my scans negatively7) Make sure that when you're saving your documents, you're saving to the correct folder. A lot of my scans are separated into monthly folders on my computer and I've mistakenly saved things to the wrong place.PRO FOR SAVING SCANS: If you forget to save a scan before scanning another page, a dialog box will appear indicating that it wasn't saved.8) After a certain amount of inactivity, the scanner turns off on its own.I hope this review is helpful for anyone who takes the time to read it.

Good scanner, Use alternative software instead of included software
This is a great little scanner. It does the job I'd expect a scanner to do in terms of accurately capturing colors and the actual lines on a page, without them looking distorted or off at all. You can write in extremely small lines, or use extremely small font, and still read it once it's scanned. It's pretty compact, too. However, I don't like the USB Micro-B port, and I truly wish it was USB-C instead. However, you can buy some small adapters that go from Micro-B to C in a small form factor, and I just keep one permanently attached to my scanner without issues. If you don't want to use the included software, I'd highly recommend using a third party one like NAPS2, which is supported. It's much less bloated, and works just as well.

Scans nice when it works, but tends to blue screen on Windows 11
As other's have mentioned, this scanner can result in frequent blue screen events. When it does work, it scans well. I scanned a total of 3 documents, each time, I experienced a blue screen on Windows 11. What happens, is that if you leave it connected after the scan, Windows seems not to like that, and retaliates with the dreaded blue screen. And that's only about a minute or so after you scan something, so if you have another sheet queued up to scan, you'll be out of luck. On the third instance of this, my machine complained badly after the blue screen, and on reboot, went into safe mode, and took a few minutes to boot, when normally it boots in about 20 seconds.Pros:1. Scans well if you can get past the blue screen that frequently happens.2. The resolution can go quite high, but it's finicky and makes you change other settings each time you scan.3. It's fast and impressive4. It's compact, easy to tuck out of the way into a desk drawer5. It would be almost perfect if not for the blue screen issue.Cons:1. Tends to blue screen on Windows 11, as others have mentioned.2. The On/Off button is sensitive and finickyOverall, this device is completely unacceptable, I did not find any fixes or upgraded drivers on the Brother site.I purchased this scanner, but tucked it away, still in it's box for while before using it, so the return window has closed. $100 is not a lot for a scanner, but still, that's a nice chunk of change to loose on a defective item. I intend to contact Brother and request a complete refund, siting the multiple mentions of blue screen events here on Amazon. I'll update this post as that process proceeds.
