Educational Insight
As I examined my white life against the backdrop of Black Lives Matter , I decided to look into the Black perspective. I had heard of W E. B. DuBois but had never read any of his work. Upon completion of the first chapter I found myself unwilling to proceed further without digesting and comprehending what I had just read. It was very powerful. Ensuing chapters produced similar results. Would highly recommend this book to those interested in figuring out how the U.S. got to where we are today.

A MUST READ FOR ALL BLACK AMERICANS AND ALIKE
As a believer in God and the true historical salvation of Christ, I really loved the approach and testimonial observations from the "Souls of Black Folk," that lived in the period of this text. DuBois does an amazing job giving an unbiased observation about the effects of the church and the toll it has taken on soul of both black and working class people due to misinterpretation, laws enacted through government and spread through the church, racism built in the structure of worship centers and he exposes the historical use of deception within the land, and church (because it was the "communal center of access") to keep blacks inferior. He really breaks down the historical anatomy of regression within the political, church, and educational institutions that is experienced today!

Joy and Sadness
My emotions ran all over the place while reading this book. Joy, anger, sadness, pride, sorrow, hopelessness, proud, etc. I have listened to people talk about slavery and the effects of it, but to hear from W.E.B Dubois` point of view, someone who lived during those times, it just brings a different reality. Like gee wiz, this country has a very evil past. And, my people were the innocent victims of this cruelty.

ALL AMERICANS NEED TO READ THIS, ESPICALLY IN THIS PHASE OF CIVIL RIGHTS!
OMG, I don't know why I didn't read this great work of art earlier! This magnificent piece is written for TODAY and is one of the solutions for civil rights. As a S.T.E.M. major and a Black woman, I have made it MANDATORY of my future S.T.E.M. major son to read. There are workers and then there are leaders! Be a leader.

Informative
It is good to hear from inside, not outside, the black community. Highly perceptive and extremely well presented. Read it!
