MoellerWater Separating Fuel Filter Bonus Pack Kit

I added an electric fuel pump to my Sea Ray 20' 4.3l I/O boat, and while I was at it, added this filter and water separating kit. It came with everything needed to mount it and install it, minus things already mentioned (hose clamps - no big deal).I would have expected to pay this price without the extra filter, but it's quite a bonus to have a spare around. Good peace of mind.Some other reviewers don't like the composite head on it - personally I think it's great. No worry about corrosion or other issues like that common in a boat. It is thick enough to be sturdy, and looks like it will hold up well.Fantastic price, great product!

Very easy install. Came with all parts needed except hose clamps and thread sealer. Pick those up at Home Depot/Lowes for a couple of bucks. I suggest this product for anybody looking to keep your engine running longer. I installed it on a Sea Pro 195 Fish and Ski with 125 Saltwater Mercury. Ran exactly the same after the install, but now I feel better about not putting water through the motor. Some reviewers said they did not like the plastic frame, but I think it will hold up better in the salt water. Appears very durable. Came with two filters-what a deal! Amazon is great! Keep searching for marine products, they have more than you think they would!

The previous reviewer clearly didn't read carefully, it simply says "for ooutboard engines" on the packaging, it can be used on inboards & I/O's as well. This is essentially the same filter head as the mercruiser filter. This is not recommended, but can be used with electric fuel pumps so long as it is placed in the suction line & the pump can handle the additional restriction in the fuel line. Comes with 2 filter elements, 2, 3/8 hose barbs & 2 plugs but no hose clamps. The OE Mercruiser elements 35-802893T fit as well. Installed in my boat in 10 minutes, works great. Buying another one for a tucker snowcat.

We were getting a little moisture, water, something causing the 60HP Mercury outboard to sputter. I installed this in the fuel line and the problem is solved. Comes with a second filter when needed and was a breeze to install. It's a tough little unit. UPS tossed it in front of the garage door and I drove over it (accidently - don't try it on purpose) coming home from work. I cussed the UPS guy under my breath for not dropping it at the pedestrian door and opened the package. All was fine and have used it for 2 months with no ill affect.

This is complete and utter trash! It was on my boat for about a week and only used 1 time. When I went to wash my boat, I saw that the element was missing from the housing. I looked in the splash well and there it was with the threaded part still in the element. It obviously vibrated right out of the housing because where it was mounted was a well protected area, so I know that nothing hit it and broke it loose. And no, I didn't over tighten it. Between this and the Moeller fuel tank that I have which doesn't vent the excess pressure, I'm now convinced that their products are garbage. I will not make the mistake and buy their products again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

My first gripe is when an entire filter assembly is shown with the caption "Two pack", I expect two complete filters, not one filter bracket and two filters. My biggest gripe is that the filter unit shipped didn't have stainless steel anything; not bracket, or fittings, or nipple to which the filter attaches. Moeller probably calls the material "composite" but I say that its plastic. I need to install a filter ASAP on my outboard, but not sure if I want to trust my neck on a piece of plastic, so I will probably send it back with a complaint to Amazon about this being a misleading advertisement.

Before purchase I investigated this item on the manufacturers website. They indicate aluminum construction and do not show a plastic version. I did not catch the fact that this offering is in fact plastic construction with a pressed brass thread fitting (which is a terrible design). Offering this plastic junk here while showing only the aluminum product on their site amounts to a de facto bait and switch. It's probably not worth the effort to return this, but I'll certainly not be installing it on my boat, as failure of this product offshore could be life threatening. I am not amused.

Installed on small jon boat. time will tell how well it lasts- easy to install, plastic so be cautious using tools.
