Why They Called Jack Kirby "King" (Review #464)
Although for the longest time I didn't know all that much about these characters, the Eternals have always seemed interesting to me. They exist as this mysterious, hidden corner of the Marvel Universe that most fans have overlooked through the years. This omnibus comes at the perfect time as the property is set be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming soon. The book collects (most of) their key appearances from the beginning up until the late nineties. It all starts with the first series created by the legendary Jack Kirby, one of the few solo projects he did at Marvel Comics. His bold vision was of a world much like our own populated in secret by both godlike beings and unstable monsters who were to have inspired the myths of every society on Earth since the beginning, both races created by towering alien Celestials who visited the world millennia ago. Those being the inherently good Eternals and their forever enemies the Deviants, and humanity caught in the middle. I am truly impressed by Kirby's work having now read the series. His storytelling approach is slow-paced and methodical and a unique reading experience even when compared to modern comics. Originally the series and its whole world were meant to be separate from the main Marvel Universe and even though it would drop references here and there it's still fairly obvious that was to be the case but that would later be undone. Unfortunately, the original series would end before it could complete its story and it would instead be finished without Kirby in the pages of Thor starting before, and going through, milestone issue #300. That arc, which was not included in this book for some reason, would be integral in cementing the title into the greater Marvel Continuity. Of what is included the next most notable is Peter B. Gillis's and later Walter Simonson's Limited Series which turned a lot of the original ideas on their head in a very engaging way. Besides that there are some key issues of the Avengers, an Iron Man Annual, some backup material from the What If? series, and a couple obscure one-shots to round out the collection plus a ton of extra behind the scenes content including introductory pages from this and a previous omnibus as well as sketches, character pages, and some vintage ads. The art in the book is really something to admire too. I've always found Kirby's work to be vast and creative and the other most relevant to the omnibus is by Sal Buscema, who is a Marvel legend himself. This is a fantastic collection, one I would compare to the Squadron Supreme Classic Omnibus I got awhile back which is only slightly better for it's brief explanatory pages that fill in gaps between the appearances not collected in it but that's a small complaint. To break it down to one sentence, there's a reason they called Jack Kirby "King".5/5

Classic Art + Great Story = Wow!
The art is amazing with full page spreads! A story that blends myths, marvel lore, and creates a world changing comic phenomenon. If you are a collector of Marvel this is a must have.

Got the replacement in perfect condition.
Book looks like it was thrown or dropped from a good height. Poorly packaged, book could flop around inside the box.

Rockin' in the jungle.
"The Complete Saga" is a bit of a misnomer for this book. A large chunk of the saga is missing, that being the issues of Thor that guest starred the Eternals and concluded the story of the Celestials judging Earth. But including that would have added around 425 more pages to the book, which is already over 1,000 pages, so I can understand why that was left out. Anyway, the only issue of The Eternals (the original series) that I had read prior to purchasing this book was issue #16 back in the 1970's when I was a kid. It didn't make much sense to me back then, but reading the whole series now, I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the limited series from the mid-1980's. Actually, the only thing I didn't enjoy was the one shot from 2000, which came across as a failed attempt to turn the Eternals into just another superhero team.

WOW!!! AMAZING!
Ainda quero adquirir Eternals: The Dreaming Celestial Saga, Thor and the Eternals: The Celestials Saga e queria a Panini também traduzi-los.

Misprint discovered past return policy deadline :(
I bought this book for my husband for his birthday as he is excited to read up on the eternals story before the movie comes out. The deadline for return on this item is July 22/2021 which is fine except people don't always read the books they get as gifts right away. The Omnibus we received has multiple instances of repeating pages and has a 9 page stretch of missing pages. For a book that cost almost $200 CDN this is absolutely unacceptable. We can't message Amazon as the seller (it was prime) because that window has closed. Please message me, as we deserve a copy that is not a misprint with missing story.Thank you.

The King lives!
King Kirby lives on! Those who weren’t lucky enough to be collecting comics when the King was alive will not know the thrill of buying these comics as they came out, wondering not only at the magnificent artwork but also at the incredible vision and imagination that went into each issue. This beautiful collection may give you some inkling of what the fuss is all about and why Jack Kirby will always be the King!

Impressive!!
All you needed to know about the Eternals is included in this glorious hardcover, graced by the art of Jack Kirby and Sal Buscema. This volume reprints with great quality all the stories from the original 1976 series + a 12 issue maxi-series by Peter Gillis and Sal Buscema (plus material from What if? & Avengers). A must read for every 'true believer' and for newcomers who wants to learn about the origins of these incredible characters, in view of the coming movie from Marvel Studios. Excelsior!
