Good basic instructions for the beginner artist or for those out of practice.

this books awesome and well illustrated

Powell product always worthwhile. But was shipped without any envelope or wrapping. Back page cut in half, edges battered, front page covered in shipping labels. Would not buy from this store again.

I’d like to learn to draw a variety of trees that I see every day and found this book very helpful.

Great step-by-step guide

This book is for beginners but has minimal “step-by-step” instructions. Additionally, the illustrations in this book are 99% North American, West Coast landscapes and trees. Expect lots of evergreens and rocks. The artist, Walter Foster, practiced illustrating in Laguna Beach, California, so the West Coast theme tracks.Overall this book is good for those who want to learn about basic concepts like shading in brief and who like drawing trees. But don’t expect the author to hold your hand as you struggle to draw a sugar pine, for example. You will not get the support you’re hoping for.
