Simple and beautiful!
I found the setup to be pretty straightforward and easy. It was kind of like putting a puzzle together! And the end result is gorgeous. I'm so glad I made this purchase!

Highly recommend to unique item lovers everywhere!
I wanted to add a little dash of modern uniqueness to my living room and looked around online for something that might fit the criteria. Not to mention that I recently purchased some great Philip Hue color bulbs that I wanted to show off. I went to Walmart, Target and even Ikea to look for unique lamp shades and lamps, but found nothing that I really wanted. I stumbled on this particular item when looking online and was hesitant to buy one because I've never really assembled a lamp shade before, but decided to give it a try anyways (I'm glad that I did!).The items arrived in an envelop in pieces. There was a simple guide inside to put it together. It took about 5-10 minutes to assemble the product. You can hang it upside down as a ceiling chandelier, but I decided to use it as a lamp shade instead. It looks quite nice and I've been getting rave reviews from guest on where I purchased the product. The best part is when I pair it with my Philip Hues that this product really shines! I can create yellow, red, blue and bright white that bounces off the plastic pedals. It creates a nice contrast and really brings an extra depth to the space. My answers to the frequently asked questions:Can I hang it pointing downwards? Are both directions an option? Thanks!Yes! You can hang it upside down as a chandelier or right side up as a lamp shade. After putting this together we used a hanging cord and attached a lightbulb. The light bulb sits in the center plastic piece. How safe is that?!The circular plastic that hangs the lampshade together in the center needs something to bind it together. It's somewhat safe, but I would recommend to use something else to keep it together or else it will fall apart.Once put together can the Lotus Chandelier be painted?Yes. It's made out of plastic. I would recommending painting it first if that's what you like.I highly recommend anyone giving this a try to add a dash of elegance in their home!Like our review? A real pain to assemble, but worth it!
I was disappointed with the flimsy flaps on this DIY lamp. The center cylinder supposedly can be rolled into a tube shape, secured by little plastic tabs that interlock. The plastic of the tabs is too thin to hold the cylinder. As the plastic sheet that constitutes the cylinder really wants to lie flat, it continually pops open as one inserts the "petals" into their designated slots. After several frustrating efforts, using just the tabs, then using tape to reinforce the tabs, I used a sail-repairing needle to sew the cylinder closed using monofilament as thread. Then, it was time to place the "petals in their slots. As the cylinder is too soft, it has no resistance to allow one to push the slightly over-sized tabs that hold each petal in a curved shape through the appropriate notch cut in the cylinder. One must hold the "petal" in its curved position and push its tabs quite firmly into the slot with one hand while supporting the flexing cylinder with the other hand. If you don't support the cylinder adequately, the "petals" already attached pop out again. It takes much longer than one might think to finally get all the "petals" in place. The round disc (with more tabs!) must then be installed near the top of the cylinder both to make the cylinder a shape as close as possible to a true circle and to hang the lamp from the light bulb. Unfortunately, one of those three slots happened to have a "petal" slot just below it, causing the edges of the "petals" to block the slot. I finally cut a notch in the tab of the circular disc so it could bypass the "petal" edges while still being locked in place. When the lamp was finally fully assembled, I was very pleased with its appearance. As other reviewers have said, the lamp looks much more costly than it is. While the description of the lamp does not specify that you will require an LED bulb, an incandescent bulb would quickly melt the lamp.If the cylinder were made of a heavier, stiffer plastic, the tabs would probably not so easily pop back open. I would gladly have paid an extra $5 for heavier plastic. I am relieved my room only needs one lamp as I am in no hurry to assemble another one.

Doesn’t shade your eyes if it’s above you
Was a little cumbersome to put together, but not the worst. There’s no loop, hook, or bar to attach this to a light. I ended up using fishing string and weaving it around the cord of the light and the shade.Lost a star because of the transparency of the inner tube. When you’ve got a bulb in there, and it’s on, the inner tube isn’t opaque enough to prevent glare. So if the shade is above you even a little bit, the light just glares in your eyes.Kind of bummed out, since I really like the design.

It's awesome
Be super careful, even though it feels super tough it can still split a little. Other than that it's freakin awesome hahaha! We have a smart bulb in so it changes colors and they're beautiful. And the daylight setting is nice and soft so it's a really good shade.

Useless buy
This is a crap buy = pieces of flimsy plastic impossible to put together and very cheap looking, definitely not recommended - even though the finish product looks great on picture, it does not come with instructions and even one of my kids who is an ace at putting together IKEA still could not figure it out.
