Polaroid Studio Series 900mm f/8 HD Manual Focus Telephoto Mirror Lens

Unit distorted imagesso bad as to be nearly unrecognizable, focusing was impossible due to distortions, blur and other intolerable image quality issues. I use a samyang 500mm mirror and that is acceptable by a marginal amount. The Polaroid rep that allows this to be put out with their name on it should be fired.

A good lens and proper lighting is the foundation upon which everything else in photography is built. As far as image quality, this f8 mirror lense (no aperture control) simply didn't do it for me. I tested it on the K-01 body I purchased for a great price on Amazon.Don't even think of getting this if you don't have a solid heavy duty tripod and means of taking delayed shots to avoid camera wiggle/movement when pressing the shutter. Even in bright daylight, the images (at 100+ feet)) were recognizable but indistinct. Foliage at closer distances in bright daylight (40+ feet) were sharper, but not really better than the IQ you'd get from a cell phone camera except, of course, a cell phone camera won't pull in the subject like this will. So you'll be able to get up close to that dragonfly at 100+ feet, but you won't count the veins in its wings.Do I think this was worth the purchase price on Amazon when they are so many great lenses with tack sharp resolution, even if they don't have 900mm long arms?--No. I think I'd be better off purchasing or saving for a better lens--MUCH better lens. This thing is overpriced at anything more than 1/3rd of what I paid. I'm going to return it.BTW, the build quality and focus ring are quite decent. It's the IQ that sucks. I suppose I should try bracket and HDR shots, but if each individual shot is inferior, how is averaging going to improve it?I think, perhaps, this would be OK for stargazing shots where you're looking through a murky viscous atmosphere anyway. Maybe some moon shots too. But it's definitely a waste if you're hoping to examine that babe's cleavage wearing the bikini down the block. She won't mind, though, as there won't be enough detail for anybody to recognize her.

I think the people that developed this and say that it is "Capable Of Producing Sharp, High Definition Images" should have their eyes checked. It seems that they have never really done sharpness and other resolution tests on the lens. I would rate it POOOOOOR compared to other Maksutov/Casegraion mirror lenses I have of similar focal lengths..

Détenteur d'un samyang 500mm f/6.3 depuis quelques années, je suis devenu adepte des objos a miroirs surtout pour l'astrophoto. Je suis entièrement satisfais du produit. Par contre il est très difficile a utilisé surtout pour les novice qui veulent ce lancer dans la photo longue distance. Très petite ouverture donc il faut pas hésité a grimpé dans les ISO

超望遠を一個欲しくて購入　ホントはケンコーのが欲しかったんですがｗピント調整が難しいと言われてますが、写真をマニュアルフォーカスから始めた自分からするとこんなもんじゃ？と思うし、今のオートフォーカスレンズの方が個人的にはマニュアル操作は難しいと思います。携帯に便利なコンパクトで軽量ボディー、序に安いと来たら一度使ってみるのも手かなｗ

Voausgescchickt sei folgendes:Ich fotografiere seit ca. einem Jahr mit einem 500er Spiegeltele von Ennex mit f:6,3, das für meine Begriffe bei dem Preis eine sehr gute Auflösung und Schärfe bringt - vgl. zum gleichen Produkt von Walimex meine dortige Rezension, insb. zu den Vor- und Nachteilen dieser eigenen Optik (http://www.amazon.de/review/R1UURGA1NN7BA0/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1UURGA1NN7BA0).Nachdem ich mit dem 500er so zufrieden war, habe ich das 800er mit f:8 probiert und nach einigen Tests wieder zurück geschickt, weil die Abbildungsqualtität nicht meinen Anforderungen entsprach.Nun habe ich das 900er von Polaroid getestet und werde es vorauss. nicht mehr zurückschicken, weil es mich aufs Erste ähnlich überzeugt hat wie das 500er Spiegeltele von Ennex.Wichtig für jeden Kaufinteressenten ist, dass man sich mit den Besonderheiten eines Spiegelteleobjektivs vor dem Kauf vertraut macht (feste Blende -> keine Tiefenschärfe, manuelle Schärfeeinstellung, manueller Modus oder Zeitautomatik, bauartbedingtes Donut-Bokeh (Kringel bei Sptzlichtern im Unschärfebereich, idR kontrastarmer als "normale" Objektive). Wenn man sich auf diese Besonderheiten einlassen will, ein Stativ und beim Fotografieren Fernauslöser mit Spiegelvorauslösung (oder Liefe-View) verwendet, gute Lichtverhältnisse nützt und auch einmal "einen Schuss daneben" riskiert, dann wird man mit so einem Objektiv seine Freude haben und es nicht mehr hergeben wollen.Diese Optik lässt sich halt nicht mit anderen vergleichen. Klar: Ich kann mit meinem neuen Tamron SP 70-300mm VC (freihändig!) Tele-Fotos machen, da kriegt man eine Gänsehaut; wenn ich diese 300mm-Abbildungen auf dem Bildschirm vergrößere, dann komme ich schon an die Auflösung und Schärfe der 500mm-Spiegeltelefotos ran, aber das Tamron ist eben auch mehr als doppelt so teuer als das 500er/f:6,3...ABER: Aufgrund meiner 800er-Erfahrung möchte ich nicht ausschließen, dass es auch innerhalb einer Produktcharge material- oder fertigungsbedingte Qualitätsabweichungen gibt, und man mit einem Kauf Glück hat und vielleicht ein anderes Objektiv aus derselben Charge merklich weniger Abbildungsqualität bringt ... - wer weiß?!? Ich hatte jedenfalls mit dem 500er und dem 900er Glück und bin zufrieden.Nachtrag: Habe kürzlich am Spiegel jeweils im Randbereich gegenüber liegend zwei dünne 1cm lange Kratzer entdeckt; es beeinträchtigt zwar offenbar nicht die Abbildungsqualität, unter "Präzisionsfertigung" bzw. Qualitätssicherung verstehe ich aber etwas anderes - daher 1 Stern Abzug.

Mise au point impossible même avec une loupe sur le viseur oculaire d'un Canon 7D - optique de mauvaise qualité - en revanche, très bonne qualité de construction apparente et souplesse de la bague de MAP - sur un 7D, il apparait avec un F16 et non F8 comme indiqué.
