Not great
Am I the only one who seems to think that the description of how Blay found Quinn’s family after the lesser raids was all wrong? I thought they had been set up around the dinner table, but this book talked about how they were scattered around the house? Maybe I have them confused with another family killed in the raids...So, I like Qhinn and Blay fine, and I was glad they got together in the first book that was about them. But I agree with another reviewer that there was just too much sex in this particular telling of their story. I think we all know how in love and committed they are. I didn’t think we needed to be treated to every gory deet of the sex they had in every imaginable position and place. I also got a little bit sick of their gooey love, all of the gentle caresses, back rubs, etc. They seem more feminine than many of the female characters to me at this point. I loved them when they were rugged and in love. Now I just feel like they are less masculine and more weak. This book revolves around a serious topic, and I thought they all did well dealing with it, but really, like it wasn’t expected that something like this would happen? It has been set up since Lucas was first rescued from the lessers, so I thought it did drag on a bit.Add in the many unedited errors throughout, and this was a far less enjoyable book than the previous ones I’ve read. I think, along with at least one other reader, that this series has run its course. Time for Ms. Ward to come up with something new and fresh, and not try to rush it to publication, as this one obviously was. I have enjoyed her writing in the past, but she is really better than all the errors in this book.

Second Blay and Qhuinn book
I always love going back to Caldwell. The characters the place, the mansion. Everything and everyone. This is a series I have actually re-read from the beginning 3 times now. This particular book was an emotional one. So many old hurts finally getting closure. It is a sad book towards the end because of what happens. There is a major loss, not one of the main characters we know but a main side character. The storm oh my gosh it was awful and so many things got broken and Balthazar that poor guy.Lots of kid action, which I just love seeing them grow up.I cant wait for the next book.

Quinn and Blay❤️
Never was a better romance then Quinn and Blay. They make me cry every time. Seriously I cried twice and was ready to throw the book as many times as well. I was telling my sister I read for entertainment but sometimes JR Ward with her teasing has my heart in my throat. I had to set this book down several times. She is a wicked storyteller. I absolutely loved Lassiter in this book, he gets better in every book as well. This whole story was so good how all the brothers came together for Quinn. Quinn and Blay’s romance is so hot , it burned up the pages. I never tire of reading about them. Quinn is just so heartbreaking all he has been through in his life. So I’m glad the ending was so good for these two brothers, who definitely deserved this book and their HEA!Many thanks to JR Ward and I hope we get another book about The Jackal and what’s happening with him. Like is he going to somehow connect with the brothers in future books? I hope!

Disappointing
I found this book very disappointing. Compared to other books in this series, very little happened. I’m glad Blay & Qhuinn finally went thru the formal ceremony. Luchas had been headed to this place since Qhuinn found him. But this should have been a short story. I do not need all the details every time Blay & Qhuinn hook up. The only really enjoyable part of the book is how all of the fighters worked together during the snow storm.

SUPERB!!
A Warm Heart in Winter is the continuation of Qhuinn and Blaylock's romance, their epic lovestory that started with so much sorrow and angst, and resulted in a family. We find Qhuinn paired with Blay, and both co-parenting twins Lyric and Rhamp, yet he still questions his worthiness for a happy life. When events suddenly occur that highlight those same questions, he sinks further into darkness. It's the intervention of old friends and family like Blay, Zsadist, Layla, Bitty and Lassiter who, along with a couple of human sisters manage to get his attitude adjusted in time for Christmas. Even after over twenty Black Dagger novels, J.R. Ward never disappoints: still keeping the story fresh, the dialogue hip and the action tight.

❄❄❄❄❄
In J.R. Ward's newest Black Dagger Brotherhood novel the author manages to make fans warm and fuzzy while also crushing their hearts. Prepare for ugly crying jags at least eight times a chapter (and there are A Lot of chapters), human Holiday festivities, V lighting up more than just hand-rolled smokes, and black and white (Angelic) conundrums. A Warm Heart in Winter will absolutely wreck you, but Ward always employs heavy MacGyver techniques to put her readers back to rights.I hope my subscribers adore this love story as much as I do... and it is, ultimately, a love story. Sure, there is violence, brothers-in-arms, vampires, death, and destruction, but truly, I've always found BDB fascinating because of its close-knit bonds, it's family, the jovial yet touching camaraderie between friends, and the absoluteness of commitment between mates.KrisWhiskey & Wit Book Reviews

Love Qhuinn and Blay!
This book was amazing! With lots of tears included. So be warned you need tissues for this one. I loved everything about this book. It’s placed around the Holiday’s in Caldwell New York. What wouldn’t you like about that right? Well maybe we could do without an nor’easter right? That what I thought. But anyways, this book leads up to the long awaited mating to one of my favorite couples in J.R. Wards BDB world. I have so waited for it. ;) But there is also loss that leads up to it. But I won’t spoil that for you. You’ll have to read it. But enough about that. I was so happy to see how Z, was doing in this one. He’s another favorite of mine. Thank you J.R. for that.

Could have been a novella!
I will be honest i did not know what to expect from this book as the last couple in this series have not been that great.as an avid fan i was hoping this was going to be a winner, and in parts it was.i loved hearing more from Zsadist,a character hardly ever mentioned in the later books, and seeing more from Lassiter.however, the prologue was old material and if i’m honest a lot of the book felt like filler from previous books as well, so in essence i felt like it could have easily been a novella in terms of what was actually new. Also i dont think Ward is great at gay sex scenes, very repetitive and no LUBE is ever used ouch!i was hoping this would have improved by now! Also i think she also forgot that Qhuinn is colour blind as him referring to colours happens a lot!If you’re a die hard fan you will want to read this but i cant help but feel let down yet again.my love for the series and characters keeps me buying the books but lately it seems the books are more miss than hit.

Loved it
I loved this. I did wonder what was going on with the humans at the beginning, but it did get cleared up later on!There were lots of things going on here. We had a continuation of Blay and Qhuinn's story. We had drama. And we had sadness. JR Ward really does know how to tug on the heartstrings sometimes. We had all the usual (and beloved) characters. And, of course, we had Lassiter in outfits that could strike you blind from the descriptions alone. The book was a rollercoaster of emotions that left me feeling all warm and gooey in the end. Priceless.

OMG
There should be a law on how many heart attacks you can give a reader! 😱 I swear I thought I was going to have to be revived a few times. A lot of misdirection until the moment of OMG hit me slap in the face! And don't get me started on the amount of crying I've done 😭 .I loved having a story of Qhuinn and Blay again. Their love is just so beautiful. I loved how we had Zsadist as the go to guy and as always I loved the moment's of humour that had me laughing hard!IAnother great instalment😊

Nobody plays with your emotions like I R Ward.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood for all that it is made up of big strong alpha makes who fear nothing ---------well nothing except feelings that is----------- is an emotional rollercoaster. All books have a theme, there is usually some danger, confusion and suffering before a resolution is reached. But oh the males of the Brotherhood. Unlike other series where each member gets their own book and then onto the next there is a continuity to this series. We are often drawn back into existing members lives dismayed to find there is no happily ever after only a happy right now. Because after all that's all life can really offer you ------- right now, no I e truly knows what comes next, unless your name is Lassiter that is. I love that the Author ( to use a phrase from the brothers) keeps it real. Several of the brothers suffer from PTSD though it's not called this, and often react in ways which show that although they have found love and are very happy with their loveds ones, the nightmares still come. This book features most of the brothers and their mates but its main focus is Quhinn and Blay, I didn't even realise that At the end of their book Lover at Last there was no proper mating ceremony. So this book starts off as usual with Quhinn on patrol in downtown Caldwell when happens to get injured Blay goes into panic mode convinced Quhinn is at deaths door. Blay has been having some thoughts about a proper mating , stupid thoughts, like does Quhinn not see them as a long term couple, does he not consider Blay part of his future? . Quhinn is oblivious to Blays feelings as far as he is concerned they ARE mated . Then a damaging storm hits which brings danger to everyone in the mansion and while dealing with the damaging effects of the storm, the situation takes a turn for the worse and it becomes a life and death situation for some, causing Quhinn to undergo an emotionally devastating event. But there are a mansion full of people ready to support him as he finds his way through the pain, Blay being the first in line.
