Easy to install and stays on while traveling.
Easy to install, fits our minivan perfect. Bought it for an urgent trip where we were not going to have room in the cabin for everyone and their luggage. Stayed on with no issues over a 4500 mile round trip, even at highway speeds.

Basic, functional roof racks.
These are good enough for hauling heavy oak slabs on the roof of a Honda Accord. They're plenty strong for lumber hauling. Don't leave them on your car when it rains. The nylon straps impede the door seals and they will leak. That's not a flaw. It's just something that's inherent and unavoidable with this sort of design. Fortunately, they're secured with ratchet straps so it's quick and easy to remove and replace them whenever. The price is right and they're absolutely good enough for my purposes.

Very functional, with one major flaw
Have used these racks a number of times in past two months. Easy to put onto roof and take off. An inexpensive alternative to thules, in a pinch. Haven't hauled anything very heavy [some pallets], but racks seem sturdy enough. The major flaw is the rubber cap on the feet of the racks. They come off easily and yesterday I lost one. So far, I cannot locate replacement parts. If I am unable to, I recommend AGAINST buying these racks. Without the cap, the rack is useless. Or...immediately glue the caps onto the feet before first use. Until yesterday, though, I was really happy with them. Too bad.

Terrible instructions, but product does its job.
This product came with wildly insufficient instructions, that didn't even mention how to use the screws and nuts that came with it to attach the feet to the bars. There is no way you could get the product working solely by following their instructions. That said, if you're relatively handy, have a screwdriver and either pliers or the right size wrench, you can put these together without too much difficulty despite the instructions. Note that the tools will only be required the first time — after that, you can remove it from your roof and reattach without any tools, and in just a couple minutes. Once assembled and attached, the product is sturdy and stable. It does its job well, and I didn't see any comparable alternatives when I was searching. The rubber bits on the ratchet part make it easy and comfortable to use. As other reviewers have said, make sure to twist the straps on their way down from the roof, which also isn't mentioned in the instructions. If you don't, it will still do its job, but it will make a horrendous buzzing noise as you approach highway speeds. If you're planning to use it like we did, to attach a kayak to the top of the car via additional ratchet straps but without a true kayak rack, we recommend also picking up a couple pool noodles to soften the rods against the boat, and use other ropes to securely tie the front and back of the boat to the rails (or to hitches on front and back of your car, if you have them.)

Incorrectly drilled holes from manufacturer
Even my low expectations of this inexpensive roof rack were not met. The uprights are molded plastic - which may be adequate for modest loads (no load rating appears on the product or literature), but disappoint nonetheless. A much bigger problem was that one of the two tubular steel crossbars, the three pairs of holes provided as mounting points for the roof uprights are NOT DRILLED IN THE SAME PLANE as their counterparts at the other end of the tube. So once assembled, the roof pads at the two ends of the steel tube are about 10 degrees different from one another with respect to the tube. So only one of the two pads can be flat on the roof, and the other will be only touching along one edge of the roof pad, and actually installing the system and tensioning the ratchet strap would twist the plastic roof mount or tear the plastic at the bolt flange holes, or dent the vehicle roof. There was no mechanism to contact the seller, only “self-help” instructions which could not possibly cover this problem. Without time to request a replacement (and no confidence that the replacement would be OK), I drilled a new hole in the correct orientation nearby the poorly-manufactured holes and made it work.

The best choice for bare hoods
Bought these because I had no other options, my suv is a bare hood. I used for two kayaks and put j hooks on the bars. Due to the cross bars being round the hooks wouldn’t tighten down fully and the hooks would move. Definitely easy to assemble. Decent fit as well. The feet could be made with a better plastic and the bottom could have a better rubber foot because water got under it and made it shift. I felt even with it moving some that it was secured in due to the straps. However, the straps that came with it were the ratchet kind and they didn’t work so I had to get the strap with the teeth lock. That worked perfectly. Overall, if you’re stuck with no rails like me, this product works in a pinch. I’d much rather have attached rails so I don’t have to unhook it every time I need to haul something.

Univeral Car Rack Works Great. Is Great, Unless You're Tall
We needed a top of car rack, fast! We purchased the rack to use on our Toyota Corolla. This rack, delivered a day late, was fairly easy to install. Just read all the directions first. We got the rack bolted together, then had to take it apart to add the strap loops. We used the rack to move a heavy iron quilting frame and it worked beautifully. I would highly recommend the rack. The only problem was the straps that run inside the car. My husband is 5'10 and he could feel the strap on the top of his head and it bothered him. I'm 5'4" and they were a few inches above my head. But, in a pinch, this is a great rack. We will keep it in the trunk because you never know when you have to haul something home.

Easy, cheap and does the job.
We moved across the country and had some extra stuff that didn't make it into the moving truck so we needed something to hold our rooftop cargo carrier. These rails had simple to follow instructions and installed fairly quick. They were able to hold the cargo carrier with approximately 100 lbs on a Nissan Altima.
