Worth the extra money
Despite the fact that I have a lot of experience with LiFePo batteries I thought I'd try one of the much cheaper Chinese replacements for the 7.5 AH Ego Power battery. Here's what I learned. The original, now five-year old battery that came with my Ego lawn mower when new was beginning show its age. I was no longer able to mow both front and back yards with just one full charge. Then, the mower's battery indicator would flash red even before finishing just the (larger) backyard. That said, these batteries should last MUCH longer. Current LiFePo chemistry is good enough that we should reasonably expect at least several thousand cycles before reaching a theoretically diminished limit of 80% of original capacity. Unlike older battery chemistries LiFePo battery packs typically deliver a consistent level of energy until nearly exhausted when they suddenly fall off a cliff and the built-in Battery Management System, (BMS) shuts everything down to protect the cells from further damage. So, five years is way short of these typical expected lifetime values. I got about half of what I expected especially when using the Ego Power battery charger. I wouldn't care so much about the failure to deliver the expected performance, but these batteries are not cheap! With this in mind I didn't feel like I owed the Ego Power people my continued business. Going all-electric was supposed to save a few dollars on fuel over the typical gas-powered mower we all grew up with, right? Instead, any savings I was supposed to get by being oh-so cool and environmentally-concerned was wiped out when I only got half of what I expected from the battery. What did I do? First I bought a 6.0 AH Chinese knock-off on Amazon. It looked just like the Ego-branded battery, but slightly smaller in size and weight as expected. I incorrectly assumed that 5-6 years of improving battery technology might work to my advantage and the labeled AH difference might be a wash. Yes, a lower capacity battery module at 6.0 vs. 7.5 Ah, but MUCH cheaper to buy than the equivalent 7.5 AH Ego Power-branded offering.I tested the the 6.0 AH the best way I should: by mowing the lawn! I had to wait a while to allow the grass grow enough to try the battery out. My un-scientific verdict was that this brand new advertised 6.0 AH battery was actually closer to 4.8 - 5.0 AH. Not even close to the advertised 6.0 AH. Thankfully, Amazon was good enough to accept my return even after a few weeks had passed.I've read all the comments about having the proper combination of Ego battery and the Ego charger. But all of these batteries, including the Chinese knock-offs, are assembled with their own built-in BMS's. Fact is, LiFePo batteries could care less about being charged by a special LiFePo charger since the battery's own BMS regulates everything about the charging/discharging process internally.Ultimately, I bit the bullet and forked over for the new Ego Power-branded 7.5 AH battery knowing that while it seems to have the same amount of power I need to do the job, it will probably not last as long as it should. This is an issue which Ego Power and all its competitors need to address. All that said, the durability and overall build quality of all my Ego Power products are excellent. I look forward to trying out whatever new products they come up with.

Like It, It Holds a Charge Well
I'm a recent purchaser of an Ego Weedeater. I've used the heck out of it since I bought it.This is a good battery that holds the charge well. I sometimes go a couple of weeks without using it or charging it and it works well. The Ego Weedeater with this extra battery is the best Weedeater this 67 year old has ever owned.

Battery that gives.
Great battery. Life of battery cuts our whole front as d some of the back. We have 2 so that we have a back up but if you have medium size yards this batter will work for you.

Medium/Small battery; great backup.
Holds a good charge, great option for back-up battery or for that extra umph needed on longer jobs. NOTE: This is the SMALLER battery, not the stock one that cones with the lawnmower (still fits but it's not going to last as long).

Good but pricey; expect degradation in year 2 & 3
The batteries work great while new but the degradation seems to be fairly high in year 2 and 3 before stabilizing. Some of this may be down to using the batteries a lot as the growing season is nearly 12 months where I live. I wish EGO would find a way to drop the price of the batteries as they are currently still too expensive; especially when you look at how many standard cylindrical cells are inside of the casing.

Perfect would recommend
Love the whole Ego line , we have the weekender, leaf blower and edger. The battery last longer than me! We'll made product ...I would say a little heavier than some but still lighter than a gas powered one. Easy to install...great value for the money. One battery fits all. Strong power , can honestly say it outworks my stihl one

The batteries work very well. They don't take too long to charge
I have now four of these batteries, two of my weed eater and two of the leaf blower and they do hold a charge for a long time and have been working very well

Ego Battery
We love our Ego weed eater and leaf blower. However, the batteries are very expensive. The battery warranty expired May 20, 2025 and the battery stopped charging in July. Go figure! The battery we purchased from Amazon was less expensive while still being an Ego product.
