Indeed, the word 'the' indicates singular and in this example of English, it is used correctly. One boiler,used for both steam/frothing and espresso. IF steaming first, the boiler temp needs to be reset by running water through it to cool it down.

Q: Why is there always water under the tray not in it

I have noticed a little water under mine as well. We try to empty the tray out after each time we use it... but I am wondering if condensation could cause that? I noticed the tray gets pretty hot when the machine is being used- so that could be causing the condensation? I don't get water under mine all the time. Just occasionally!! Not sure I am much help!!
