The Worrysaurus

We read it every night.
We read this book and the little blue truck Christmas book every night. My 3yo likes to read these multiple times and it’s short enough that I can read both 3 times and it’s not too repetitive that reading it gets on my nerves. I like the cadence of the sentence structure too if that makes sense.

Such a great read
My 5 year old daughter loves this book. It’s great to reference when she’s getting worried and thinks it’s so funny to say she’s being a worrysauraus so she snaps out of it.

Cute illustrations and important lesson
Cute book about an anxious little dinosaur. I bought it because I have anxiety and I didn't want my 3yo to inherit that tendency. Although she probably didn't grasp the whole story (she kept asking me if the storm will come) she still loved the illustrations and asked to read it everyday.

Great story to teach feelings
This book is such a cute story of a very worried little dinosaur. The worrysaurus has anxiety about a rain storm and eventually uses tools in his back pack to get through it. As a teacher for small children I love reading this story to my class or one on one, it helps them learn about their feelings and how they can work through them with help or on their own and gain emotional intelligence.

I love this book
I bought this book to read to my 8 month old, as a person who personally struggles with anxiety I really loved it! Not only are the illustrations are fantastic and I love that it rhymes but it really sends a great message. 10/10 recommend.

Every child needs this book
We love Rachel Bright books, but this one especially is a book that every child should have read to them on a regular basis. It's a wonderful story and message for any child, but extra special for any little worriers. I only wish we had it years ago for our eldest who is an anxious child. She is reading it to her younger siblings now though. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous too, this is possibly the cutest dinosaur I've ever seen, he needs to be made into a plushie!

Lovely bedtime story
My son is seven and Autistic. He really struggles with anxiety. It can spiral to the point he talks himself out of doing something, even things he really wants to do.Our days follow routine and alot of forward planning. He imediately saw the similarities with the little dinosaur and it has become a firm bedtime favourite.I have yet to find a better book to help explain anxiety.

Nice story
A nice little story about trying not to worry. My 3 year old was a bit confused by some of the illustrations. The wording doesn't always describe what's happening in the pictures very well and vice versa. Particularly the page where the dinosaur is worried about the storm. To an adult it's pretty clear that the pictures of dinosaurs in a storm are his thoughts but to my 3 year old it looks like dinosaurs that are upset in a storm. Mostly due to the fact that they are a different colour to the worrysaurus. All in all it's a nice story but the concepts aren't necessarily for younger children. Explaining why the dinosaur doesn't have a literally butterfly in his tummy wad difficult to explain when on the next page he is chasing one. Probably suited to age 5 and above.

Really cute book about worries
I bought this for my 4 year old son who is struggling a little with worries during the pandemic and thought it was worth a try. It rhymes nicely and has lovely pictures that use colours to reflect the mood, so when the worrysaurus is worrying the illustrations go blue and the colours are no longer bright, it helps them pick up on what is being said even if they don't quite understand it. Good way to introduce language around worrying as now we can talk about the butterfly in his tummy and he can finally find a word and way to express it.

Great for worriers! Wish I'd had this as a kid
I started reading this book to my 4yo and thought of my goodness this is literally me! She had me read it 4xs in a row and was enthralled. I like the way it teaches practical strategies, mindfulness etc. It acknowledges and validates the feelings too. I think as a child I was told not to worry, even mocked or shamed a little, just don't worry, it's fine, it's so silly! Now I teach my anxious kid that it's a feeling and thoughts and she can control them, she is strong ☺️💪
