Life, Death and freedom
This is a really great movie, about 3 men going through a mid life crisis, after the 4th member of their inseparable group dies. This is the catalyst for the movie's story. Throughout it, the three stars go from scene to scene trying to come to grips with the loss of their friend, while making rush, spur of the moment decisions, in order to feel and live life to the fullest. This premise is helped a lot by Cassavetes improvisational style of overlapping dialogue, that gives the movie an authenticity, and helps keep it more modern and current with today's modern productions. The three main characters are not polished. These are men living in their time, which I'm sure will immediately make some people uncomfortable while watching. There's infrequent but graphic violence and general disregard for women, and the characters are often crude and insensitive. These are 3 men with no real problems, trying to have a break from the monotony of their mundane, clichéd lives, and see what else is out there for them. The kind of movie that I'm sure married women in the early 1970s would most likely have a problem with. That said, even though the characters are not particularly warm or sympathetic, they're still played by 3 familiar great actors, that you'll want to watch throughout this bachelor adventure. Extras are great, detailed above, Sound is great for this very present overlapping dialogue, and image is probably the best it's ever gonna be for a 50+ year old movie. Shame the 3 hour version of the movie seems to be lost to time. It'll be great to have an extended cut of this.

If I knew that the dvd was coming from America I wouldn't have purchased it as our dvd system is not compatible with the Americans, therefore it wouldn't play on my system !!!!!!!!!

Good acting and quality writing
Sentimental and replacing older tapes, but find Husbands unable to play as it needs a certain code that we do not have or maybe its because of UK? I would appreciate any help you can offer with this concern.
