A excellent centre speaker
This is a quality product. Beautiful build quality. A very large speaker... It's quite a beast. That said, it has a lovely sound. Rather bassy... In a good way. I watched Dark Knight with the centre speaker installed and Batman's voice was deep and thunderous. Very enjoyable. A high quality speaker. Worth every penny. Definitely worth bi wiring it! I have jump wired mine as my amp is not bi wirable. But still achieved the same result. Very impressed and happy. Thank you Whalfdale!

Wow!
Wow! What can I say? I'm blown away by the sound. It compliments my kef surround speakers with its sound quality and build. It's states that it is lightweight in the description.. I can tell you its not which is a good thing. I had to move my surround amp just so that this centre speaker could fit.. its 'huge'. My movies and pc games have come to life! No faults whatsoever. Very happy 😊

Don't ignore centre speakers...
...they make good standard shelf speakers.Failure after 49 years of my Amstrad 2500 speakers revealed a need for replacements. There seems to be a lack of reasonable quality 200mm (8") speakers on the market without throwing LOADAMUNNY at the new cabinets. I am not interested in cabinets made from chocolate box liners and old newspaper just to save a few bob.I looked at replacing the drivers but that would probably mean the tweeters and cross overs as well. Importing to the UK from Germany would contain too many unsettling doubts more so if the new drivers etc were damaged or didn't fit.So a search for something to replace. Centre speakers designed to go under a TV would fit in the space my old speakers occupied on top of a built in cabinet 8' tall in a room 10' tall.I kept to circular tweeters in the cabinets as I'd heard that the slot style get compromised if they are off axis. The Wharfedale CS range had the best balance of Frequency response, power handling and cabinet weight. All of which need considering when drawing up your spec sheet. So I took the plunge and ordered.Installation was a doddle as it was out with the old and in with the new.Now there are two schools of thought on 'Burning In' one is an hour of pink noise at half volume. Which is fine if you live miles from the nearest neighbour. The other is a few hours of mixed programme classic music but perhaps not at 1/2 volume unless you have a SPL meter to establish when you have hit 1/2 power.I chose the latter and these speakers deliver a nice sharp treble possibly a little too bright but not surprising given their initial design criteria. That said progression of sound across the sound stage is smooth and well balanced. There are many tracks by lots of bands that feature repeated tracking across the sound stage all seemed to work well.Classical orchestral music if full bodied with just enough bass to balance the overall sound. Not yet tried these speakers with speech or song. But I have no doubt they will deliver.A few pointers. These speakers, as with all the Wharedale 9.1 series, can be powered by an active cross over and separate amplifiers. One for Treble around 10-15w output; One for Mid-range with a 15-30w rating and via a separate cabinet, bass rating 50-100w.I had not expected this more professional sound ability on what is effectively a domestic speaker. The centre speaker can be connected left and right rather than bridged High and Low.All in all these look to be a decent deal and provide a nice sound.Centre speakers don't have to live under your TV they can be employed in traditional Left and Right mode as long as you do your research properly. They can also be part of a commercial professional sound system with multiple amplifier media playback system.Give them a go. You could be surprised.

Big
Lovely speaker but I had to return because it was slightly too big for the space it had.

Exactly as expected
This is quite large centre speaker so takes more space than most but the sound quality is excellent. Build quality is also great, as expected from the brand.

Fantastic centre speaker
I bought this for my dolby Atmos system as my original centre from my old 5.1 was a bit naff. This speaker has bought a lovely rich tone to all dialogue while watching TV or movies. I had actually bought a diamond sub a few months prior and based on that's performance I was sold on getting this.A great purchase!
