MSI GS70 17.3" Notebook - GS70 StealthPro-024

The msi gs70 stealtpro-024 was exactly what I was looking for. At just over 5lbs it's a completely portable work station and gaming center. I've only had it a day and found just about everything to my liking. I was skeptical at first about buying it from this retailer but everything arrived in a hurry just as expected from the best of retailers.

Very good specs for the price. Overall a good buy, but there are definitely sacrifices to get there. The chassis isn't as sturdy as some brands and flexes a little bit. One of my rubber feet fell off already after only a few months of normal use. Also, the trackpad is literally the worst thing I have ever used. It also seems to have trouble processing certain types of things... for example websites with lots of gifs, or mass copying in SketchUp. But perhaps that's more of a job for a Quattro, who knows. The battery drains a little faster than I'd like, and is non-removable. They've also put a warranty sticker over one of the screws on the back, which is just petty. Overall a good buy when you think about the specs but in terms of the user experience it doesn't always feel like it.

Didn't work out of the box. Came with a faulty graphics card and adorama wouldn't even take it back. Very irritated.

I have been very impressed with the MSI GS70 Stealth Pro-024.Pros:- Minimalist appearance, prior versions were blinged out, this one is just black without a lot of flash- Powerful - I'm able to run new games like BF4 and Titan Fall at 1920x1080 on high settings without a problem (strangely, when I tried the old CoD:Black Ops, it was laggy). Between the Nvidia 870m, the i7, and the RAM it has remarkable power for an ultrabook.- Cooling - I was so concerned about this that I purchased this from a retail location instead of Amazon thinking I would likely have to return it. When running a game the fans kick in - but not too loud - and keep it steady at acceptable operating temperatures. The top of the laptop above the keyboard does get very hot, but this is typical for an ultrabook gaming machine.- Huge screen - it really feels like a desktop with this screen- Not too heavy- Great keyboard - love the steel series keyboardCons:- Trackpad - one of the worst I've ever used. Does not track well, commonly does things I don't want it to do, and even when typing it will sometimes "kick in" and perform some annoying action. I don't know why MSI can't get this right.- Windows 8 - with the 8.1 plus the new update, I almost never even realize its 8 - it mostly operates like 7. But if you're going to have 8 on a laptop, you really need a touchscreen. Otherwise, just put 7 on the machine.Overall very impressed.

Everything is awsome exept for the fact that it heats really fast. The max heat is around 91c to 90c if your playing demanding games on ultra(bf4)...other then that it can go down to 70c. Runs games at around 30 and more FPS.

While I play Diablo 3 Expansion with full setting it start flickering. I had to lower to resolution to 1600x900 and it went better however sometimes it flickers once a while.Not sure if it's the heating issue or its driver issue.

I'm sure it's a great laptop, but unfortunately mine does not work. After repeated failed attempts to boot the machine, it finally got to Windows 8...before it simply froze and then shut down on its own. Repeated attempts at powering up continues to fail in boot successfully. Fan runs on high for 15 seconds or so before shutting down on its own. Can't even get to the MSI boot screen. Looks like I got defective hardware.What a headache!

Worked great out of the box and for the first 9 months but recently started acting up (something wrong with the hardware) which is why I can't really recommend it to any other buyers.
